Hougoumont Hotel

Even if the tiny rooms are real tiny, the place is lovely and the staff friendly and efficient. Very nice breakfast too. And last but the least, the story, the adventure, of the irish political convicts is told in a vivid manner. And the coffee is not bad at all.

Great place to stay and location is perfect. The staff was very good when we asked for a bigger room when we found out that we had mistakenly booked a container room for 4 days. Same price for a bigger room on the other side with more space & especially cupboard space. Thank you :)

Absolutely loved this place, room was spotlessly clean, welcome message on bathroom mirror .... Nice touch. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was basic but delicious especially the nice jams. Free cheese biscuits and wine early evening in the brewery court yard. Location of hotel great for bars, restaurants and shops. Was so relaxing I rang our daughter to come and book a night so we could go out for dinner and drinks !! We are visiting from the UK and will be booking this hotel when we return next year. We'll done to the management and staff.

Visited the hotel during a short vacation, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The hotel staff were friendly and made me feel right at home with their genuine warmth and attentiveness. They even provided great recommendations for nearby restaurants and attractions, which made my stay even more enjoyable.

I recently stayed at the Hougoumont Hotel, and overall, I had a pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, ensuring that our stay was comfortable.However, I should note that the cabin rooms are quite small, which could be a concern for some guests. If you plan to just sleep and spend most of your time exploring the city, these cozy rooms should be sufficient. For our next stay, we will consider booking one of their larger rooms for added comfort and space.Despite the size of the cabin rooms, the Hougoumont Hotel offers a great stay, and the warm and welcoming staff contribute to a positive experience. I would recommend this hotel to those looking for a clean and cozy place to stay in Fremantle.

This hotel is over priced for what it is.We sent our bags ahead from our hotel in Perth in the morning as we were going to arrive quite late in the day. Our bags arrived to the hotel just after 9am.When we arrived (5pm) it was plain to see that our bags had been sitting out, publicly accessible in reception all day.On arrival the receptionist did not greet us or acknowledge that we were in the correct place to check in. (This point makes more sense when you see that reception looks more like a co-working space than a hotel lobby).After we had sat down to check-in the receptionist proceeded to talk over the top of our heads to other clients in the waiting area who were asking her questions.There is no room service, or in room dining options. However, when I asked about if there were options during our check-in I was laughed at for not “opting in for mini-bar items” when I was making my booking.Our bathroom was not restocked with toilet paper or tissues during our stay (the half used items provided were not enough for a 4 day stay).The included hotel breakfast is fresh breads and spreads provided in the hotel lobby/reception. Quite basic for such a premium price point.At a price point per night of almost $500 this felt like a complete rip off.2 stars as the linen, towels and room were clean as well as the location being conveniently central.

The one star may be harsh, but when you come across that sheer arrogance, it is hard to ignore.Reminds me of a place in Toronto years ago and something a mate said: you work in a bar, hold it down, as your clients are worth their weight. Not a sleight on bar staff at all, but you never know.I hope they change their attitude, as it really is quite nice.

Lacking Luxe ambience.The pillows are cheap polyester, the complimentary continental breakfast is very very basic, toast and jam and coffee from an average coffee machine. .Gym access wasn't explained or offered or available.The good: location and unlimited complimentary water and also some nice amenities in the minibar.

This place is full of surprises! Staff members were all very friendly and helpful.Even though the room is small, it's got everything we need for an overnight stay. The room is spotless clean. We got a free welcome beer and cheese platter between 5 to 6. Breakfast is simple but healthy, especially the home-made jams. The owner Marcus dropped in and gave everyone a lolly and said ' Here's a lolly to make your day sweeter !' How cute! lol. Also learned a few things about the history of the last boat bringing convicts to Australia.Thank you so much.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
