These three concrete pads include the two original crane bases (hexagonal) and the central chain well (rectangular) constructed in the 1930's and used as part of the Evans Deakin ship yard facilities here at Kangaroo Point until the 1980's.During that time, this part of the riverfront was used as a roadway. The roadway linked the shipyard facilities, located on the northern boundary of this site, to the wharf area, represented in the current riverwalk by the constructed recycled timber wharf pavement.
