The Criterion Hotel
I arrived late Monday ( the joys of modern air travel). Checked in and had a burger at the bar ( it was sensationally salubrious). Hit the hay upstairs and sadly I'm a really really light sleeper and didn't get the best nights sleep. Mentioned it to Katy on reception and hey presto she moved me to a quieter room. Katy is an absolute gem and rockstar rolled into one. The rooms are brilliant and perfect for a work or leisure trip. I will definitely be back for sure.

We couldn't believe this place! I don't know why we stopped here, specifically. We were disappointed with one of the main pubs the night before so we were chasing a recovery. These guys delivered! The atmosphere was brilliant and the food was sensational. I've never been more impressed by a damper and lime butter. The mains were also awesome. I had roast beef and vegetables and my partner had the burger. We were both stoked with how awesome the food was. So much better (and pretty evenly matched for price) than wherever we were the night before (nearby pub with cool play area for kids).

I went here for dinner tonight and was the first person to arrive at 5:30pmThe waiter was extremely helpful attentive and polite.Lucky for me it was steak night and there were three different specials to try, I chose the 250grm porterhouse steak with beer batter chips and wine gravy JUS and a complimentary drink I chose an orange juice as I was driving.Everything was cooked to perfection There was plenty of flavour in the beef And the chips were crunchy and tasty.Beautiful building and decorFriendly staff who are very professionalGreat food using locally sourced ingredients and a great selection of drinks if you are looking for something abit extraI will definitely come try more dishes here when I am in Sale again next.

Amazing food, we had the Porterhouse and the quality of the meat was great! Desert portions are generous. Friendly and lovely staff! Great lunch deal.Definitely we’ll be back.

Went for a meal with a friend.Tried the Romesco dip with labosh bread and a side of steamed green beans. Best vegan dish I've had in Sale in the last 18 months!!!They have a few vegan options which I will be trying in future.YummyGreat service too!

The Criterion offers the best of local wines and the meals were brilliant. Service was amazing as was the service.If what I experienced was midweek service, their weekend service must be amazing!We could not fault a thing!

Excellent customer service, nice and toasty inside, classic interior feel, and a good feed.We were so impressed with the customer service, especially by the young people at this pub - they were so polite and delightful. Such a refreshing vibe!The only feedback I have is that the salad could use some more ingredients.We can’t wait to revisit!

We stayed for a few nights while visiting family. The property is historic but well maintained and felt like it has been kept up to date. The bathroom we had was excellent and room facilities great. The room had two very high windows and we ended up sleeping with the blinds open all night as felt closed in. Not a major issue but worth requesting a different room if you want to open windows.

Very polite and courteous front desk. Good recommendations for places/directions to see by the bar staff.The room is modern decor with Netflix, coffee pod machine, and the shower is great - I'm 194cm tall and I easily stood under it, that's unusual. That's a simple thing I really appreciate.Close to a variety of places to eat and other pubs.
