I was admitted on Sat 16th Oct 2021 after having my dislocated ankle reset at the public hospital. The nurses Soji Solame and Liam were fantastic in all areas of service to me. I was assigned to Dr Richard Hocking who put my fractured ankle back together for me. I spent 5 days in Unit 4 Bed 15 and the meals and housekeeping staff were fantastic.

Had the worst experience today, after 2 nights of no sleep seen a very unsympathetic Dr, had high blood pressure very sore ears, temp, found fluid in one ear and infection in the other, paid $250 for a 10min consultation and was given 8 pain killers, I days worth of pain medication and ear drops, went home and cried, this is unacceptable

During 2018 and 2019 my husband was admitted to The Friendly's Hospital on numerous occasions where he subsequently spent lengthy periods. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. The cleaning and kitchen staff were all friendly. My sincere thanks go to the nursing staff. The kindness, caring, professionalism and most important of all their gentleness towards my husband was amazing. After a 2 year battle we lost him late December. My husband spent most of his time in Unit 2. I cannot thank the wonderful staff in Unit 2 enough. Collectively they are Angels". THANK YOU."

Had to take my wife to the emergency dept on 19/11/22 after she hurt her back and was in severe pain and struggled to walk.We were seen by a nurse who said she would speak to the doctor then returned and gave my wife an injection and put her on a drip, then when it finished the nurse removed it and the doctor finally come in and said you can go home. She never touched or felt her back, no X-ray nothing at all. When leaving there was no relief from the pain. The only thing they did was to make sure we did not leave with without paying the $250.00 fee. After complaining a couple of weeks later I spoke to somebody about the problem and they don’t CARE. Be careful and don’t go there. Today 8/12/2022 my wife is still in pain and being treated somewhere else. I am totally disgusted in the service we received at this so called caring hospital.

Dr Herman Wittmer is the most rude, angry and obnoxious individual I have ever had the misfortune to meet.I was coerced into having a loop recorder inserted into my chest and now very much regret that I allowed the procedure to proceed !!!!

I spent 3 days at friendlies hospital and it was wonderful. I was experiencing a lot of pain after my knee surgery and couldn’t have ask for better treatment. Nurses and the doctor were constantly observing and finding new ways to get my pain under control. Thankfully they found a way and I am more then grateful for their effort and wonderful work! It was hard to leave in such vonarable state knowing how safe and well taken care of I felt at the hospital.Plus the food is delishous and the room was very comfortable!

I recently spent a week in the friendlies as a public patient, the staff were awesome and I was treated with respect and care , the catering staff went to great lengths to provide healthy tasty meals. I highly recommend the hospital . Thank you all for taking such good care of me, all the nursing staff were great but a special shout out to Johny , he went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable and stress free . I was in unit 5 bed 24 .

The nursing, catering and cleaning staff is absolute fantastic and caring. What a lovely group of people. They make this hospital. Doctors is really a hit and miss and when it is a miss then it is disastrous and health principles are breached without any patient recourse. Doctor is God in the eye of management and the patient care is in that instance irrelevant. In that case you are left abandoned in the care of nursing staff. Lucky they are great and it is very sad they have to pick up the slack. Hospital needs a big improvement on the quality of some doctors as they bring the overall perception of other great specialists and the hospital down. Wife had an op a few weeks ago and everything was brilliant. Be warned, check doctor's reputation before deciding on this hospital.

My partner recently attended the Friendly Society Private Hospital as a full-fee paying private patient and had a series of terrible experiences. Amongst these included- ED Reception staff ignoring her request to have the door unlocked to use their bathroom after a 4 hour wait in the room, despite happily agreeing to open the door for the person before her (she was made to feel like a burden for using a wheelchair)- the follow-up ED doctor refusing to provide her a report from her medical scans despite her right to obtain copies of her own medical information (he stated that swelling was the only cause of pain and then pressured her to pay privately to see their orthopaedic surgeon for accessible information about the injury - no thanks, a report would suffice)- the original locum ED doctor informing her that scans completed on the day would incur no additional fee (which i-MED later billed her for - if the locum informed her of a fee she would have asked for a referral to BBH)- being told she would receive endone when stating she did not want/need medication (again, an offer that was declined)- having a brace and crutches opened and handed to her, and THEN being informed of the $100 fee for these (forced sale)Not impressed, not friendly, would not recommend.Owner of this page - please do not offer for me to make a formal complaint as you have with others. My partner can't get her money back for the scans she was wheeled off to and informed there was no associated cost. You cannot repackage the crutches and brace you applied to her before, again, informing her of their cost (your form said 'may incur a cost' and she anticipated a warning before being handed items and then requested to pay after they were no longer 'new'). You cannot undo the actions of your staff when they said she could use the toilet but did not unlock the door, making her wait at the counter for 5+ minutes and having the whole waiting room listen as she needed to ask a second time to be granted access to your bathroom facility. You did not provide a medical report despite her asking several times, and cannot give back this time to her personal GP whom she had to attend another appointment with just to obtain a copy of her own, medical information. We do not see a formal complaint resolving any of these awful experiences. Please accept this as us expressing our frustration, as a couple, at this service.

It’s a while back now but a few years ago I had surgery here to remove my gallbladder. Doctors who have seen my tummy since have said it’s pretty much the neatest job they’ve ever seen (it was keyhole but you can’t even see the little scars). Room was comfy and food was good, staff were helpful and caring. Aftercare was good also. This is an excellent hospital.
