RICE WORKSHOP | CREATING THE TASTE OF JAPAN It's the place you go when you want a taste of Japan. We’re a Japanese rice bar, and what started off as a DIY bar quickly evolved into a take away fast food place for rice bowls and noodle bowls. Our toppings, ingredients and sauces aren't just authentic, they’re packed with flavour and a culinary adventure on their own. Our rice bowls are efficient, satisfying and great value, made all the more awesome by the fact that there are so many options to choose from.

The first time I ordered here the food was amazing.Every time after that I have been nothing but disappointed.TWICE now I have ordered the tofu rice bowl and the tofu has been mouldy. This first happened in 2020, then tonight I thought I would give them another shot. Nope, once again the tofu had brown patches on the inside and tasted foul.

I have tried the large beef rice, reasonable price, generous portion and tasty, but the pork braise rice has more onions than the meat.

Simple good food, tiny but cosy place, good choices of various pseudo Japanese/Asian cuisine. As of today, back open under the recently announced loosening of the Melbourne COVID-19 restrictions.

Staff were neither rude or polite. A friendly smile or greeting would have been nice. However, service was quick and the food is consistent with other Rice Workshop.

Friendly personable staff, yummy food and a great location for ppl watching. I miss having the vibrating order alert though, easier than listening for you name in noisy plaza.

The lady who served me was absolutely has no hospitality skills at all. No smiles. I got the upgrade to large and only thing they upgraded was the amount of rice looked like 3 serves of rice and i coukd literally cound the meat pieces on on hand. Half way through the meal there was just plain rice left, can't imagine how to eat that.Also theres a big surcharge they dont tell u about.

This place is terrible!Does it have new owners? Wish I had read the reviews before I got food from here.I ordered the beef Curry and it was not at all as it is pictured. I wanted something stew like and it was what was suggested.Well it was full of rice and unfortunately there was next to no gravy. So I paid an extra $3.5 for gravy.To add to the insult, the curry was bland and inedibleSeriously disappointed ☹️

I ordered through UberEats and it was satisfactory, delicious, good packaging, seemed clean and followed instructions and left cutlery and chopsticks. Liked the Katsu. I hope quality is maintained.
