Whim Creek Hotel

Cool place with a lot of history. Met a man on the way down from Hedland here told me he used to fly his plane and land it on the high way then park it at this hotel. Good good and had a mini zoo outside with an awesome environment.

Sad the pub is closed, but a nice spot to free camp, with a working toilet on site.

Pub is amazing. Backpacker rooms are fairly priced. But will not be going back in a hurry at all. We payed $150 P/r a night and rooms were not much bigger than the backpacker rooms, yes it had its own bathroom but the rooms are not maintained and kept upto standard. Mould in the aircons. Showers calcified and not cleaned properly. I wouldn't of minded if I wasn't paying an arm and a leg as I can go camping without a worry. Oh and you need to make sure YOU do all the research for the place as not one staff member will tell U kitchen closing times. It's no where in your rooms, so 7pm is kitchen closed. They have a bar fridge in ur room and a box tv that cuts in and out every 10 mins. So you can't really take your own good unless you take your whole house. Good place to go for a day trip only in my books, on ur way up to North WA or on your way down to Karratha and onwards, good place to park the caravan up as they have a spot for that. Probably a good place if you are backpacking, to stay and to work even but I wouldn't go stay with the family again.

Really handy location and an iconic pub. Friendly staff and good meeting facilities if you need a meeting halfway between Hedland and Karratha. Catering wasn't amazing, but not bad given the location, we even had fresh fruit!

It is shut (April 2021) and has been shut for a while. People do camp there in the car park but there are no facilities. Better off camping at Peawah River just a bit further along.
