J&V Warren Smith Auto Service

We changed to J&V Warren Smith two years ago, after years of being overcharged for inferior service elsewhere. It's been refreshing to find such reliable and effective service, at a fair price. And, our little old 1997 Merc A190, which hitherto seemed to be doomed to the scrap heap, now runs better than it has in years. Thank you J&V

Just got charged $520 for a basic service and change of front brake pads. Way too expensive. Didn't even get a car wash which I normally do at Waverley service centre. These guys seem to charge like a wounded bull! Only positive part is the location is close in proximity to Surrey Hills Station. I would avoid them unless you are happy to pay an exorbitant price just to drop the car so you can walk to Surrey Hills Station. Friendly service that comes at a price!

We have been going to J&V Warren Smith for 25 years. They are very honest and very professional. They do an excellent job and they try to avoid extra costs if they can. They are not the cheapest but you always get very good value from them because their work is excellent. Well worth it.

Old guy who seemed like the owner was so rude never felt so dumb as i recieved a lecture when i arrived about not servicing my car regularly then when i picked up my car he told me that “i am kicking myself for saying yes to the job” Like why say yes to the job in the first place i paid you to do your job not much more i can do. Then when i read the invoice he charged me $2 to fill up the windscreen wipers. The service was terrible and way overpriced.

I've been taking my car to Phil for a number of years now. And while I have suggested his services to others verbally and many of my family and friends now take their cars to him I thought it high time I wrote a public review. I trust Phil's judgement as he is always fair and honest. He can get busy so best to book in ahead of time. But sometimes things just go wrong. Last week I had a headlight go and I drove it to him without phoning, expecting I would need to book in but he fixed it on the spot.. Similarly a brake light went today and the same thing happened even though he was obviously busy with lots of services to do. Again he kindly fixed it on the spot. Another time I rang because of an issue I was having with my car and he talked me through it with spot on suggestions about how to proceed. It's great to get this level of service and to know that my car is in safe and honest hands. Thoroughly recommend. And if you are heading out for the day -- say to work -- Phil's J&V Warren Smith Auto Service is a few steps away from the Surrey Hills Railway Station. So leaving your car here is highly convenient.

They are just fantastic. Very reasonable price for servicing my Golf and they took some time out from their Christmas party when business was closed to replace battery on my driveway gate's remote control (fiddly procedure). I am so grateful to them, and to the wonderful Sandra at reception. My Dad had his Ford Falcon and Toyota Land Cruiser serviced here for years and swore by them. Genuinely good 'old fashioned' service.

730 for a standard service and rear brake replacement was a bit steep. Note that since they don’t use OEM parts, it may cause issues like it happened in my case. They used Bendix brake pads which squealed like a pig. Had to fork out another 150 to get the “issue” fixed caused by their choice of parts (discs were machined).Three visits and out of 900!Pleasant interactions but at these prices, I will stick with dealership, especially when replacement of a part is required (when does it not).
