Black Star Pastry

This new outlet of Black Star Pastry is big! Located inside EQ, the space is light and airy and opens up on both the street side & market side. It spans 2 modern levels so plenty of seating inside and out. There is a large kitchen out the back of the cafe enclosed by large windows where you can see everything that's going on. Cakes being made and decorated, pies being made, watermelon being cut. Inside the cafe, everything on offer is beautifully displayed - from whole cakes, pies, quiches, pastries, to the infamous watermelon cake to the new Japanese forest cake. On this occasion, we had the relatively new mango cake which was delicious, light & summery. Contrasting to this was a super decadent chocolate cake. Then there was the watermelon cake. Everyone was too eager to tuck in so no photos were taken. Coffee by Little Marionette is nice and well made although I am intrigued to try the Black Sesame latte next time. After so many sweets, I had to get a beef brisket pie to go for later. The inside was super tender and flavoursome. Pastry was lovely also. The pie is not as big as it looks as the pastry puffs up and there is an air pocket inside so don't need to worry about over indulging. Glad to have this new location and looking forward to the next visit already!

The cakes are very yummy, best one is the watermelon one! However it got sold out when I got there. I got the hot bun and it is delicious. This is one of the best cake places or pastry places I’ve been to.

Really nice cakes and good customer service. Ordered the Strawberry Watermelon Cake and the Raspberry Lychee Cake. Both were nice and really delicious, but the Raspberry Lychee Cake was a little easier to eat. They also make nice coffee with really cute hedgehog cups!

Though I went here for my takeaway coffee, the shop looks neat and fresh and I appreciated its al fresco seating.Haven’t tried their famous pastry so will update my review then.

The staff are nice, they still serve the cake even in the last minutes. There are heps of restaurant over there. A large parking area with 2 hours free parking. Have been to their first , second and cbd shop. This one is the biggest one with ample space.

Good croissant & coffee in the morning plus those magpies loves the leftover flaky bits =) Also, I remember they had a Japanese curry puffs around 2019 which was a unique bite. Good stuff!

Black Star Pastry in the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park has the prettiest and yummiest desserts ever! The most popular and delicious cake is definitely the strawberry watermelon cake. Black Star have also created a strawberry watermelon latte to accompany the cake and it is just as pretty and delicious.

This store here is not crowded like the other one in CBD. The kitchen at the back is amazing as well.Except that famous watermelon & strawberry cake, most others still worth a try if visiting. Cakes are not overly sweetened or heavy.

Was served by a very unfriendly and inflexible person over the counter. We have explained we wanted to buy 6 Easter buns but not sure which ones to get. So we want to try" 1 chocolate first before deciding which one to get. After explaining 3x
