I found a fledgling on my driveway Tuesday night and kept it safe overnight before calling WIRES on Wednesday morning. WIRES told me to put it back where I found it, asking for my permission to enter my property as someone would be there later in the day to assess it/take it - I had to go out and could only sit with it for an hour. I got home and couldn't see the fledgling where I left it, under the assumption that as promised someone from WIRES came to collect it. This morning WIRES call me asking if someone could come and collect the fledgling? I said the fledgling was no longer there - I didn't question that nobody had come yesterday when they were supposed to? WIRES suggested the fledgling must have been OK and that's that. Well I just found it DEAD - in tact, not attacked by an animal - in my garden!! If I knew nobody from WIRES was going to care enough to come when they said they would I could have kept it safe, like I did the night I found it!! Shame on you! I was reluctant to call WIRES at the outset after hearing some stories! Never again!! I thought you were supposed to care!!!

We rescued this duckling last night. Even on Christmas day , volunteer Molly came out within couple of hours from a phone call to wires. She was great she transfered it in good care to a lady who looks after duckies frequently. At least Melvin Cracker has a lil brother now and is in good care now. Thanks Team

I had an injured ring tail possum stuck in the dash of my car literally behind the aircon.I called wires and Steven answered told me he was sending out someone to help. He thought this was amusing at this point even though he knew the animal was severely hurt, telling me that he didn't have something in his manual for this.I then hung up and called 000 to the fire brigade they then came out and helped as much as they could by taking my dash apart but the possum was so far in my dash they couldn't help any further.I received a call back from Steven to say some volunteers were notified and they were coming out to help. I then waited an hour or so and went to check the possum and it wasn't moving much and it was bleeding, I called Steven back for him to tell me no-one was coming out to help me and he then patronised me and cutting me off saying that's awesome and great, told me to grab it myself and how would they be able to help if I couldn't grab it out?He was being extremely rude, leading to me crying cause I didn't know what my next step was and who could help...I then hung up and drove to my closest 24 hour vet, honestly don't bother calling them.

Nestling fell out of tree. On WIRES advice fed the bird overnight then rigged up a temporary nest - best chance of survival is care from adult birds. These rapidly appeared and chased me off while proceeding to feed the youngster by themselves! Can't guarantee this will always happen but it's worth a try!

I have been in contact with WIRES for the last 16 years. They rescue every injured creature or at risk creature they can including turtles an birds. ASAP. They are volunteers and work tirelessly. FOR ANY ONE WHO FAULTS THESE PEOPLE, I SUGGEST YOU GET IN THERE AND HELP THEM. STOP COMPLAINING AND START HELPING.

I was at work this morning @ Tilt Cafe Forestville and a baby possum got scared by a dog and ran up into this tree. It was so scared and couldn’t get down so I rang WIRES and they arrived within 2 hours. They safely got the baby down and took it with them. WIRES were extremely helpful and I really appreciate them for taking time out of their day to volunteer just to help get him back down to safety. ☺️

Great people, great service. Just saved a baby magpie who was in the dust near a busy highway. The magpie let me pick it up,and the Wires lady who lives locally, was here within the hour. Anyone who writes negatively about this service and these people needs to take a chill pill and look hard in the mirror.

Not even sure what to put here. These guys are amazing beyond words. The commitment, dedication and focus these guys put into this work is purely heart warming. I am above grateful that I will be joining them in the journey soon. I love animals, and will try my best to live up to these legends. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do, and for loving the animals who most people don’t bother to look at twice.Keep it up :)

A rainbow lorikeet crashed into my apartment glass window and went inside my room, he can't fly properly. I don't know what to do so I contacted one animal rescue that I knew but their number is not working maybe because its Christmas eve. I tried WIRES glad someone answered. The guy advice me what to do, i just put the bird inside the box and wait for 2hours then release it in our nearby park. He flew around before he rest on the top of a tree. Our mini rescue is successful. Thank you so much WIRES.
