My hubby and I dined at The Braddon Merchant for dinner and we were blown away by the food and the service. We shared an entree, had the mains (as shown in the photo) followed by a shared dessert. The food was exquisite and each dish was filled with fresh flavours. The staff were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the wines. Highly recommend dining here.

We could have a conversation without competing with loud music so that was a pleasure topped off with nicely prepared eggs with dukkah sauce, but not quite hot enough. Very happy with the sourdough and received two good sized pieces (trust me, that's not always the case) with avocado. I'd recommend trying it. I'm looking forward to going back and trying something different.

Decided to give Merchant another try for Valentines day. Much to our disappointment, they have taken a dive in standards. We have been approx 10 times over the past 2 years, at first being our favourite go to for special occasions. The past couple of experiences haven't been great and after a good 6 months, we would try them for one last time. The food leaves much to be desired, no flavour just olive oil and sugary toppings to make up for a lack of culinary inspiration. The service we received possibly wouldve been beaten to the likes of hogs breath. On top of this, it took approx 2.5 hours for it all to be over. All for a humble $310.

Date of visit: November 2020We had an overall enjoyable experience here with pretty good food (we ordered the 3 course meal) in a relaxed setting.We wanted to like this place more but it fell short in a number of respects, relating to service. It took forever for them to take our orders and to deliver our cocktails - it was generally difficult to get anyone's attention. It was evident that they were too busy fiddling around with silly wine bottle gadgetry more than plain old good service. We would be happy to try Braddon Merchant again in the future, but they need to focus on getting some basics right.

Stayed at the Midnight hotel and was gifted free breakfast for being a Platinum member. Pan seared haloumi with poached eggs dish was fantastic, as were the Belgian waffles. Will come back again to try their dinner servings.

Great atmosphere , wine was great but had a little few problems.- the steak we ordered ( we wanted medium cooked) came out rare and bloody. This happened to 3 of our steaks.- the kangaroo loin I had had a weird glad wrap/plastic sort of flavour to it. Im not sure if it was because it was raw and just came out from the fridge but it had a wrapping taste on it. Ive tasted kangaroo loin before and this was not it.

Lovely evening I am open and modern restaurant adjacent to the reception of the new Midnight Hotel.The decor is modern with an emphasis on minimalist timber and concrete with a nice calm ambiance. Thankfully the background music was subtle and appropriate.The menu was excellent and we liked the two course/three course options. The food was all great, offered a good range of meat, fish and vegetarian options. The wine list was extensive and a bit pricey.The staff were very knowledgeable and suitably attentive - spacing between the courses a little long but not problematic.Certainly worth a visit and great for a group booking.

Do not waste your money!!! I never leave reviews but I have to warn people as this is the most boring and overpriced breakfast I have ever had. For our two “meals” we paid $49, which amounted to 3 slices of bread, 2 eggs, half an avocado and a small slice of halloumi. And we left hungry. Also the pile of furikake on the avocado was so salty and overpowering. The interior design of the space is beautiful but this is not reflected in the menu. Can’t speak to their dinner menu, but for breakfast there are so many other great cafes just a few steps away on Lonsdale street that I would recommend over The Braddon Merchant.

Quality doesn’t match price tag!Waiter was rude and needs a lot more training. The host was loud and obnoxious. The atmosphere is better described as a loud pub. We had the chefs selection menu for Valentine’s Day and were left very disappointed as the food was uninspired, untimely and almost inedible. Very unsatisfactory experience.
