Very overgrown, fallen trees and needs tending to. Track is still traversable for the moment

The most delightful babbling brook along the walk. Tumbling off Mount Torbreck, free from human interference, crystal clear, cool, drinkable and easily accessible. A real tribute to life, to our beautiful country and enviable lifestyles. Not coming cheap, but paid by the ultimate sacrifice by our brave.

What a lovely memorial of remembrance to lost airmen. I have been here many times and was present when it was reopened in January 2016. Excellent car park, track and interpretive signage. Well worth a visit.

The memorial walk starts at the corner of Barnewall Plains and Torbreck Roads with plenty of parking available. The walk is signposted as 5kms return but I think it’s closer to 3.5-4kms. Although it’s generally well looked after it is a relatively steep and narrow climb that requires some fitness. The memorial is a beautiful tribute to those who died in service on the 16th May, 1940 and well worth the effort.
