Macquarie Heads

Great camping spot at Macquarie Heads. Flush toilets are kept spotlessly clean. Friendly manager. Okay to have camp fires. An awesome white sand beach that goes on forever. Great photo opportunities at sunset of the sand dunes, lighthouses, driftwood on the beach, etc.

The campground is so nice and tidy, with beautiful little trees all around the place. However I'm not sure if there are showers, we couldn't find any. Also, I loved the ocean Beach and the dunes, so cool!

I absolutely loved it here! We drove as far as we could, parked the car and firstly walked the very short jetty. Toilet block right next to the car park.Walked along a dirt road for awhile, maybe 1 km and then onto the beach. It was SO windy! Was awesome watching the wind blast the sand. It was fascinating to see two lighthouses almost across from each other and this is apparently due to how dangerous it can be in this area. We came across a dead whale on the beach which was sad to see. Later read an article that over 300 had died in this area last year (2020) very quiet although I imagine it may be more occupied during peak period. Plenty of camping spots available.

A great campsite. Well maintained by the caretaker, Ian. Lots of room. Please keep it clean for other users. A beautiful beach, you can drive on it with 4wd.

Fantastic camping. Plenty of spaces. Magnificent beach with kilometres of beach driving. Awesome fishing and lovely views and surrounds. Will be going back for sure!!!

Good camping at very reasonable cost. Grassy sites, trees and bushes provide some privacy and good protection from winds. Track in is about 10 Km of gravel. Fine for 2wd is you drive to conditions. Some sites get boggy with rain.
