It's really annoying to get up early and drive 80kms for a photoshoot on he board walk for a foggy sunrise to then walk 950 meters to the boardwalk and find a sign stating the board walk is closed for repairs. Why can't people put up signage at convenient places like the carpark or on the highway signs.

Looking forward to the finished loop!!! got to spectate heaps of bird species chilling out on wetlands, whilst walking about half of the main trail following the hwy towards Swing Bridge. Wish we had more time to get to bridge, nextime we hope to do whole loop. But as map at entrance shows the other trak is still closed for repairs.

You hardly have to leave the city to get to this 300-hectare expanse of open water, marshes, grassland and red gum woodland.This is the prime place in Sale to do some birdwatching, and on the River Heritage and Wetlands Trail you can keep an eye out for white faced herons, Australasian darters, pelicans, of course, whistling kites, royal spoonbills and white-bellied sea eagles, to name a small handful.There are boards with clear pictures to help you identify each species.Cyclists also love the reserve as an option for an extended, but light ride from the centre of Sale, with bitumen paths and boardwalks.
