Delicious, very filling, friendly staff. Dog friendly but do call ahead.Some of the locals are a bit lackadaisical about Mr Spicy Cough Cough, but that's not really the fault of the owners.

Unfortunately, the parma and the burger, two staple items for a pub were below average. The chicken was dry and the burger had ill looking grey bacon. The burger lacked flavour. In cold weather, there were several flies buzzing around the table which was concerning. A positive meal was the USA pork ribs which were tasty, but a tad dry.

Star Hotel Yackandandah
The Star Hotel in Yackandandah is one of the few notable places to visit in the town but I would recommend it as a must if you're in the area.The pub had many areas for indoor and outdoor seating and accommodated bookings of 1 to a whole room of 30+. There was also a well-lived in feeling about the place with a positive atmosphere and rustic decor. The staff's professionalism and friendly manner would make you think they were working for tips, top notch. Not to mention the speed of the food service, as it was second to none, I purchased the Brisket Burnt Ends and they brought it out in minutes among various other dishes including salmon with lemon butter and a Korean fried chicken burger. Although the food was a bit above average in price it was well above average in quality. The brisket burnt ends, pictured in this review, was melt in your mouth tender, sweet, savoury, filling and the sesame seeds added a nice nutty tone to the dish.Finally, the venue is best accessed via High Street where there is herringbone parking available. Wheelchair accessible as well.

Food was dumped on our table and waiter left. We’re not given any cutlery, plates, serviettes or offered any water. We had to grab another waiter and ask for them.Great tasting food. Couple of our meats must have been reheated from the fridge as required. Unfortunately they were still cold in the middle.Service needs to improve significantly.Chicken was ok.Brisket was not nice, tough and chewy.We ordered 5 different meats which menu says each come with a serve of chips. We were served equivalent of one serve of chips. I’ve had a single Parma served with more chips!Poor value for money, rude (not hospitality trained) poor service and poor value. We mentioned some of concerns the reply we got was “we’re busy.”

Had dinner here over the 2023 ANZAZ long weekend.Service was good and the food was terrific. Pig Wing (a huge Pork Knuckle) Beef rib, Burnt Brisket ends, Bratwurst Links with a side of MacNCheese (more cheese than mac but very tasty nonetheless). Good sized portions and cooked well on the smoker/bbqGreat value.

An extremely disappointing evening. My meal arrived within 5 minutes of ordering - ribs most likely from a packet and microwaved, and mostly inedible. My companions meal arrived about 20 minutes later. So much for going out for a meal together. We were staggered at the exorbitant prices and most especially when the food was so bad. I have been a customer at the Star for the last 18 years on and off and have had a few bad experiences in that time. I won't be risking it again.
