Sphinx Rock Lookout

Just a short walk from The Springs, Sphinx Rock is a breathtaking spot for a lookout. Venture down to the bottom of the rock if you dare - the incline is quite steep and can be very slippery in wet weather.

What a view! Definitely worth going. Just be careful of the tracks you take. I would recommend parking your car at the Springs and taking the 1.2 km track to the Sphinx lookout.

Very easy walk, level and easy. The lookout was simple but had a decent view.

A lovely walk thru thick bushland. But the lookout area is small and without safety rails etc. Id use caution with children and anyone easily dizzy by hight. It can get crowded too so not a good photo area at times.

If you've seen my other posts, you know I make fun of people, so it's time to make fun of myself...before getting to the actual spot, there is a warning fence and gate that mentions how dangerous it can be because of the drop-off. Well I had never seen any kind of gate like this one before, so I literally spent 2 minutes trying to figure out how the unlock mechanism worked. I felt so stupid, and was worried someone would see me just standing there not knowing how to get through a child-proof lock! Eventually, I saw the obvious thing to pull up on and was on my way, but I knew that I had to have looked incredibly stupid to all my ancestors looking on down on me from Heaven. Sorry guys!

Very easy walk from the springs, beautiful view in the sunshine but also beautiful on days like today in the snow!

Recommend walking from Strickland Falls to Lower Sawmill up to the lookout. Starting from the base of the mountain and reaching altitude fast (steep) with rewarding view

Such a great view, and an easy 1.5km walk from the Springs. There's a safety gate with a child lock on it as you approach for lookout, make sure you push it to the right and remember which way you pushed so you can get back through it. Had to help a tourist get back out because he couldn't work it out! Such a pretty place. Recommend visiting then a hot chocolate at the cafe back at the Springs!
