I dropped in to pick up a gift when I was visiting Tasmania recently. I was so impressed with the care and customer service I experienced that I took two of my families knives in for sharpening the next day.Initially I was told it would be a week or two to get the knives sharpened and maintained due to how busy they are, so I organised for family to pick them up, given I was headed back overseas before they would be sharpened.However, I showed up the next day to pick up a magnetic knife rack I had purchased, and the knives had been sharpened and maintained over night because they knew I wasn't going to be here to pick them up, and that I had to organise family to collect them.They did an amazing job on some seriously dull blades. The blades had been used as chisels on the floor, and the tips were warped! They have come back looking fantastic, with a sharp edge on them, for a great price!Well worth it. I would have all my knives sharpened here regularly if I lived in Hobart.Thanks 'The Knife Shop' team!

Absolutely the best place in Tasmania for everything knives, and the people who run this store are simply outstanding. - (I think the people who gave bad reviews must have a bee in their bonnet)!I have been coming here for many years now, and I have always been treated with respect and had my many questions answered, not to mention consistent impeccable care of both my knives, and my families hospitality/chef knives.

I’ve been going here for years to get my knives sharpened, and they are always lovely to deal with, and do great work.Turn around times may be a bit longer, but I personally think it’s worth it to shop local and just plan ahead! It’s very sweet how they include a few lollies in your knife roll :)

I very much wish that I had received the great customer service people on here are talking about. Instead I got an unhappy, unfriendly mean old woman at the counter who turned my business away because they were “far too busy”. Never mind I got my knives sharpened with best edge who did an amazing job and I didn’t have to wait 3 weeks like I usually have to with ware bros. Maybe when the shop gets new owners I’ll try again.

Fantastic customer service. Knowlegeable staff who showed me the perfect knife for what I needed. When that knife was unavailable, a staff member at my request immediately found out that another was being shipped in. They then offered to post it to me. I am very happy with the outcome.

I don’t get the negative comments on this place, nor the 3.8 rating at the time of writing this. They saved my $300 knife when I chipped it. They charged me $10 for it. The lady who served me, who I assume owns and runs the place was lovely every time I’ve been in there. She had a tough customer before me the first time I came in but was still affable and had jokes with me about it. Great selection of all sorts of sharps things in store too. Don’t believe the naysayers on here. Let’s get that rating up!

Received excellent advice re knife & sharpening steel purchase & they even provided me with lessons on how to use the steel to keep a sharp edge on our knives. We had previously had our dull dog grooming clippers sharpened & restored to working perfectly again. I have found the advice & service provided to be excellent.

I make knives as a hobby, and as a result have a very high standard for the knives I own.I went into the store wanting a new pocket knife. I told the lady behind the counter I was happy browsing and had a look at the knives they had on offer.After browsing the store I was looking at the pocket knives through the glass when the lady came over to me, opened the glass and proceeded to go through the knives with me (without he having to ask).She went above and beyond what I would expect. I held and played with a lot of their pocket knives, going back and forward between many makes and models. I was in there quite a while, and settled on a benchmade.The whole experience was great, and I left very happy with my purchase and the service I received.

I ordered a Victorinox online and forgot to add a second item to my order. I called the following day and they were more than happy to quickly edit my order and put the second item in the parcel at no extra postage cost, they even gave me a free upgrade to express post!These people are highly professional and polite, they went above and beyond to help me.I will be visiting in person next time I'm in Tasmania.
