Getting a bit crowded in recent years. Carnival rides are a bit tacky. Some reasonable food trucks and fireworks at the end.

Frankston's Christmas Festival of Lights
We went to the Frankston Festival of Lights on Saturday. Thousands of people, food trucks, rides for the kids spread over several city blocks. There was a huge main stage with enormous pa repeated throughout the precinct of the festival. The sole entertainment apart from a choir was an endless series of fairly average solo singers performing to backing tracks. There were no bands to be seen anywhere. The crowd looked bored and the whole affair lacked vibe. There was no edge, no spirit, no entertainment setting the mood. Why no bands? Surely they didn't do it to save the few lousy bucks they pay musicians? If there was one street festival that needed about 20 bands playing, this was it. The whole thing looked like a giant school fete with no obvious point or theme to it. Without live music it has no life.

Good event. But really intended for nearby residents only since there's absolutely no parking so you'll need to walk or drive there so insanely early, you know hang around for 3-4 hours until it starts, to get a park.

Loved it! Went once when I was a teenager & was worried my memories were better than the actual experience. But, I was happily surprised to find that it was still just as fun, went with my partner & son & we all had a blast, going on rides, trying foods, buying showbags, watching the tree light up. Great memories made today. Excited to go another year.
