This is an example of how great cafe becomes mediocre. Food is great, giving it 4 stars, but the service is horrendous. We visited for lunch today and those waitresses girls running around like chooks without a head. Couldn’t provide menus, couldn’t take timely order, couldn’t deliver food properly, was waiting for my drink forever, which was diet coke. Another couple sitting next to us simply left, nobody even came over to them, while they walking around, as if they were blind. But reality is they are untrained, completely useless. One of them stood next to us happy chatting in French to some other customers probably for 20 minutes, while there were people waiting for orders to be taken. Won’t e making that mistake again, which is a shame, we used to go there frequently for last 15 years. But the downhill in service is just unbearable. Very disappointed.

We’ve eaten here every few weekends for the last 2 years, and we’ve always recommended it to others for the food, location and atmosphere.The past few months things seem to have really started slipping. Most notably yesterday (05/05/23) when bringing visiting family for lunch. After hyping the place up for its food, it was pretty embarrassing as to what we experienced.Not particularly busy, yet the food order was a mess. It took 20 minutes between the first full breakfast coming out and the last (exact same order), 2 other meals were the same order, yet 1 came with 2 eggs and 2 tomatoes and the other came with 1 egg and 1 tomato? along with 4 of the sides being completely forgotten about and 2 of the drinks. Not sure how this had all happened when all of it was recorded on an iPad, but the staff (as friendly and nice as they all are) wouldn’t come over to check if we had everything. We had to get up and go to the counter 3 times in total or wait until someone was near the table to ask.We’re still planning on coming back but something has definitely changed since the new ownership. Hope it improves and best of luck to the team with this.

Wow we were not expecting such amazing food. We were just looking for a Sunday lunch and the place was packed. My seafood platter was excellent and everyone of our six person group was super happy with the delicious food. The prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent. This has to be one of the best cafes in Maroubra.

Used to be one of my favorite local cafes with great food. Unfortunately todays breakfast was very disappointing- bland, dry, no flavor or seasoning and with too many tomato slices (an unnecessary addition to the dish as it adds no flavor),, on what used to be a delicious smashed avocado toast meal. Not sure if it’s due to the new menu and/or new management. Menu needs revisiting if they want to keep the local customers.

the food and coffee here used to be so good! unfortunately it’s clear they’re under new management, the food prices are so high now and very disappointing for the price you pay. ordered a oat iced latter and a almond flat white both which came with regular milk plus the coffee was terribly burnt, then asked if they could remake the iced latte since it was undrinkable leaving a extremely burnt taste in your mouth when drinking, they kindly took it back to remake but only to find they brought back the same coffee just added a bunch of sugar syrup into it…so yeah the food and drinks were poor but my friend seemed to enjoy the chicken schnitzel, the mushroom medley and egg shakshuka however were really quite bad (portion wise and flavour wise).the staff were very kind however!!! which i appreciate a lot :)

I used to visit this place occasionally, the food used to be good an d the location is simply great. I invited friends for lunch today. I was surprised with how poor the service was, and food was even worse. If service can be explained by many customers on Sunday afternoon (still just an excuse),, the food quality is unforgivable. Shashuka was overcooked to a point of eggs being like hard boiled, and the veggie salad was sweet and served with raw almonds - not toasted, so no crunch and no taste at all. Not coming back.

Ordered a 3/4 long black, was served a regular long black. It was tasty nonetheless and ordered a second!…but still not what I had ordered. Shocked at the price of the food and there weren’t any specials. Busy, bustling and great location and street parking. Would visit once in a while to show off view of Mahon pool and it seemed like a professional set up, but prices are a turnoff.

This place used to be our favourite spot, but today we were so disappointed. We had to wait 45 min for our food and the quality was awful. $64 for two eggs benefits and two coffees that was so bad that we couldn’t even eat.Clearly different owner/management it's a shame but we won't be returning.

No idea what the food is like. Had been prepared to spend a substantial amount on their overpriced menu. Only to be told that their dine in service was too busy" for take away. Even though there was plenty of empty tables and had been asked no less than 4 times if we wanted to dine in or take away. 4 times we said takeaway. It wasn't until we started to place an order and ask for an omission from the salad
