Scone Station
Small station, 6 trains a day, 1 north, 5 south

Scone station is a small, lonely reminder of the rail line which breathed life into the string of towns which grew beside it. An endless line of coal trains pass it day and night and a few token passenger trains limp past with a service which is next to useless to people wishing to depend on it for a reliable means of transport.

A very nice historic building and signage, but the only problem is the frequency, only 3 trains a day on weekdays and 2 trains on weekends.

Scone currently holds the record for the furthest railway station from Central/Sydney Terminal in which you can use your Opal Card - at 315 km - YIKES!!!! The terminus for the Hunter Line from Newcastle and the Northwest Xplorer continuing to Armidale and Moree. Will this record continue for many years to come, or will Canberra become part of the Opal Card system and break the record?? Only time will tell.

Scone Railway Station is a railway station, which a majority of NSW Trainlink passenger trains terminate at, then return back towards Newcastle. However there are other passenger services which continue to go further northwest to Werris Creek, etc. Nice station.
