Poor experience. Drop off is a fair walk from the terminal. I was made to check in (rather than take as premium hand luggage) a valuable item of ceremonial religious equipment because security could not distinguish a Bishop's staff from a truncheon: what is fine in Townsville and Cairns is apparently too dangerous for Mount Isa. Once finally through security into a packed departure lounge which is clearly too small for the traffic going through Mount Isa. Queue for both sets of toilets: again too small. The airport rather lets down a remarkable city.

There is no public drop off, so you have to use the car park, which is a long walk to the terminal without cover. Free parking has now been reduced to 30 minutes.

Virgin staff was lovely.1 Avis staff member wasn't wearing a mask and was walking around.Several people in the airport weren't wearing masks, very disappointing to see, especially as they weren't eating or drinking.

Airport building very clean. amenities very clean but boy oh boy I have never come across a slower Cafe in a Airport, and I have seen dozens around Australia. Eat and drink before you go to airport.

Staff were helpful, airport is clean and well maintained. There is a coffee shop too.

What an absolute joke, no shop open, not that I would buy their over priced garbage. The new upgrade is ridiculous, once inside you can't go back out unless you want to go through checkin again. What a joke, worst airport i go to Australia wide, I wish I could give a negative star rating and your wifi.....why have it? It doesn't work.You make it hard to find where to write a review as your airport is a joke, get some adults behind the overpriced burnt food. The cheap labour of children on their mobiles doesn't work. Not even worth a 1 star rating.

Make sure you order a taxi when you land at Mt Isa Airport. Don't turn up to the rank and expect one to just come along. Ordering is essential.
