Im biased. Ive been going to Bar Sport since the late 1980s, but don't let anyone tell you that it's a dinosaur. It's changed over the years as we all have and today it's as vibrant as welcoming as it was when I first visited Bar Sport with my dad in 1989. If you miss Italy, good Italian coffee and italian cafe food, promise yourself you'll go to Bar Sport. Joe and Frank will let you in on the secret.

Compact coffee shop with character and history, serving Italian coffees since the late 50s. Good spot to have a bite in the morning or lunch with pannini and focaccia sandwiches to choose from. Italian pastries and biscuits plus freshly squeezed juices also tasty to take away or enjoy indoors or at the tables outside. The place is for the soccer mad so expect some heated discussions on the topic of sport, with a large screen TV playing matches all day and opposite side, a chalk board with latest games played and scores.

Too expensive for what it is. $16 for a regular bombolone, a small bombolone, a cappuccino and a hot chocolate doesn’t sound quite right.. probably 3 or $4 more than what it should be. The quality was alright. The pastries are frozen and packaged in plastic at the origin, then reheated before serving them (ie, pastries are not baked in house on premises). But the atmosphere, people, and style is about as authentic as you can get in Sydney for an Italian bar of this type.

5 star coffee! I unassumingly randomly walked into this cafe today to grab lunch before an appointment on Norton St. I was surprised with stellar coffee - perfect temperature and velvety smooooth. (I also ordered a Mediterranean sandwich and it was so damn tasty!)
