Mount Isa Underground Hospital & Museum

Absolutely a must do when visiting Mnt Isa. Very interesting and informative. If you're a photographer it's a great place to photograph this part of the Australian history

Great history and story of how this hospital started. Very informative tour. No steps and a short walk, easy to do.A must do while in Isa.!

We experienced an issue with our online booking, resulting in us turning up for the booking, but the facility was closed.We emailed the facility and shortly after, we had a phone call from the facility, with an apology, advice that a refund had been processed and an invitation to look around the facility even though it was not yet open for business for the season.We gladly accepted the offer to have a look around. Ericka not only let us look around, she essentially gave us a private tour!We highly recommend a visit to the underground hospital and museum; it’s dog friendly, an amazing piece of history and excellent customer service to go with it!

A wonderful experience and so poignant. I felt for those who built and served there. Go you will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed our tour here today. Our guide (who said he was a (tree) surgeon and goes by the name of ‘Bruce’) was lovely and gave an entertaining explanation of the hospital and its history.The maternity section upstairs was pristine and the displays of different instruments was very interesting.

Great to see the history of Qld during WW II and how miners and mining industry helps the local community.

What a fantastic, volunteer run historical resource. This is a gem in Mt Isa's tourism industry. A great insight into the work of volunteers across history to support the medical profession. And a cup of tea and biscuit to finish! Thanks Blake for an informative tour.

Wonderful experience and wonderful guides. So much to see and remember from the old days. Cuppa before the tour was appreciated. I left my purse on the table and they went above and beyond to get me, even contacting a business associate who messaged me to return and collect it. So greatly appreciated.

Absolutely fantastic and Patrick our guide was awesome with his knowledge. We thoroughly loved the history, the tent house, underground hospital tour and the maternity ward historical building. Highly recommended. Totally awesome!

Really great tourist attraction very wheel chair friendly even to the point of wheeling our friends chair into the underground hospital for the whole tour. Very informative and well preserved plus extremely good value.
