To say I’m disappointed with St George basketball is a massive understatement. The refereeing is inconsistent and downright bias, how can one team receive two to three times more fouls than another team pretty much every game?!The worst part is when trying to address any issues with the supervisor respectfully, he is dismissive and condescending. Even responding with “your team need to adapt to the ref’s calls”, so in other words don’t play defence. Makes me question whether they understand the basic concept of a basketball game! This is not a stand-alone incident but a repeated issue experienced by many parents. I understand the refs are young and inexperienced but if that is the attitude from their supervisor how are they to learn and grow as a ref?It is so disheartening when your kid is really excited before a game, to play the game they love with their mates, to come home upset and frustrated due to the bias refereeing. Parents take time out of our evenings to watch their kids play and PAY for your services but also return home frustrated. I have another child who plays at the Comets, where the refs are just as young but the games flow due to decent and fair refereeing. Save yourself the trouble and find another local comp.

It is interesting to see that the front page of the St George Basketball Association's website preaches Honour. Integrity. Respect." This must be a one-way expectation because very little of this is afforded to the players

Absolutely worst league I've been part of.The referees are incredibly inconsistent making the games unenjoyable for both players and parents. Complete disinterest shown by the ref supervisor in addressing the multitude of parents concerns in relation to the often poor and biased refing decisions. The games don't flow and the young players cannot develop due to the frustrations of such poor refing. Worst part is, there is no one to raise these issues with. Speaking to the refs is forbidden and the ref supervisor instantly becomes hostile and condescending threatening tech fouls when any concerns are raised about the refing.Strongly consider other leagues in the area before committing to St George.

The refs ruin the game with bad calls, their supervisors are arrogant and dismissive and seem to really love barking orders at kids and parents . If you want a fair go and experience real basketball do not waste your money or time here. I have about 30+ years experience in basketball and St George is the worst competition I have ever seen.

My son played the first term then the second term i kept messaging and calling and almost begging to find out how to put him back in, but nothing would be done about it, i just called again this afternoon no answer. He loves basketball and he's good at it and i don't know where to turn. It's very frustrating.

It is very disappointing that this organisation does not take it's position provide an enjoyable environment where children thrive, seriously. It is additionally disappointing that the referees, including the head referee, do not take feedback and use it constructively. Rather, they become extremely defensive and passive aggressive, and dismissive to parents who have the right to question certain calls respectfully. We have noticed that once some of these calls were questioned, let me reiterate - respectfully, our team became a target and received a heavy handed approach by the referee, moving forward. Mind you, I will use the term 'referee' loosely. They are poorly misguided and given the wrong direction by their superior. They are just kids themselves. It's not about the win, it's about growth, respect and fun. Unfortunately, due to unprofessionalism, the children are not being heard and in turn lose motivation and enthusiasm. To SGBA - you have a duty of care to cater to the children, the parents, and as a quick reminder, these people are paying customers.Just remember - these customers are your bottom line. You can take the mature approach and use the feedback constructively, or you can choose to ignore it and tarnish your reputation even more so.The ball's in your court.

Came here from Bankstown to watch my brother play and the staff their were disgusting refused us entry due to COVID restrictions when the venue wasn’t at capacity. Then someone on the board of directors put his hands on my 15 year old sister to try push her out of the stadium. I’m disgusted.
