Port Douglas Artists' Beach House
As stated below by my travel buddy Rene I couldn't agree more. The house is magnificent and very well taken care of. If you do not want a clean resort type of villa but a beautifully decorated house which offers anything a family or group of adults desires, the Artist Beach House is the place to stay.Tina & Matt are enormously caring because the want to be sure you have everything in place to spend the time of your life on their premises. The house is spacious. Has all the electrical needs (TV's, Internet etc) but if the weather is good you spend most of your holidays on the outside terrace drinking Margarita's and grilling your meat on the Weber. If you're up for a midday nap, use on of the numerous couches that are present in the house. Cool in leather or cosy in a lounger. Furthermore the bathrooms have all the needs. The kitchen is well equipped and a good sign....Yes the knives are sharp like razor blades. No need to bring your own.The beach is a 5 minute flip flop walk away but if you can't get of the terrace or the couch...jump in the saltwater pool for a refreshing dive and continue lounging on the wooden beds in the garden.Enough to do in the area. 4WD through the Daintree Rainforest, Diving on the Great Barier Reefs, Sweet water mountain swimming at Mossman Gorge. The list goes on and on and on.If you want any more info contact Tina through the public channels on Facebook, Air BNB or here through Google. You can also contact me directly if you require any additional info regarding the owners and the house.Truely an amazing experience! Thank a million Tina & Matt.Review Rene:We had a fantastic 10 days at the Artist Beach House. It has a great big veranda with a view over the pool where the kids enjoyed themselves a lot. The veranda has an open bar to the kitchen and has a large wooden table with benches which was perfect for breakfast and dinner. Inside and downstairs there are loads of spaces to lounge and relax. It's a short drive into the centre of Port Douglas and it's a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Four Mile beach. We would definitely go back to have another wonderful holiday.""

We originally booked Tina's property the Nook for our winter family escape to Port Douglas, but when the pool required repairs after storm damage, Tina very kindly offered to accommodate us at the Beach House for the same rate. We were so appreciative and gladly accepted! The Beach House was an absolute highlight of our trip - spacious, inviting, with a glorious view and filled with cool sea breezes. Interior spaces are decorated with a colourful array of creatively curated furnishings and artworks, and the deck looks out over an impressive pool and lush garden landscape. Our kids loved eating their breakfast at the stools by the open kitchen windows, playing for hours in the pool and counting how many couches they could find throughout the house! We enjoyed the short stroll to the beach, spotting geckos and listening to the birdlife (well, maybe not the curlews!), curling up on the couch happily exhausted after a day snorkelling on the reef, cooking in the well-stocked kitchen whilst the kids made cushion cubbies, and listening to night-time rainfall on the roof. When searching for a place to stay in Port Douglas, Tina's properties stood apart from the rest in the uniqueness of their character, and I looked forward to holidaying in a home full of warmth, art, colour and pattern, instead of the uniformity of cookie-cutter apartments of tiled floors and artless walls. I most certainly was not disappointed. Thank you Tina and family for sharing your home!

We booked the house for 2 families - 4 adults and 3 children in total. We wanted space and we were not disappointed! We loved the 2 lounges which meant we could have adult time and TV away from the teenage children. Our son could use his phone to chat to friends over the web and play his games. Excellent Wifi. Lovely bright light and with sea breezes blowing through the upstairs area. Very close to a wide open expanse of beach which was deserted and very beautiful. Photo was on our last day when a storm came in but still beautiful. Huge swimming pool and lovely views over the creek which meant it was private. Loved eating outdoors. Close to town. Tina popped by and suggested Sailway cruise to the Barrier Reef and again we were well looked after - especially our son. We also went to Hartley's Creek on her recommendation and again a super day out for all. Coles super market is nearby and we found this great for shopping and $5 pizzas from Dominos when we were being lazy! We also took ID and joined the combination Club by the harbour which was lovely for evening drinks (+xbox for the boys). Hope we get to all stay again....soon

My family has stayed twice at properties owned by Tina and Matt and have found both homes to be charming, magical and perfect in every way. There is nowhere else in Port Douglas that matches the uniqueness of these properties. If you're after something with character and soul, you won't find any better. We celebrated my mum's 70th birthday at the Artist Beach House, with 3 generations under one roof - we all marvelled at how well the property catered for the littlies (3 year old) and the not so littlies (my dad is 77 years old). Thank you to Tina and Matt and we would not hesitate to recommend any of their properties - book it, you won't regret it.

Port Douglas Artists' Beach House
This might be one of the best houses we have stayed in. Perfect for families holidaying together, with spaces to sit and eat together, many rooms and bathrooms and short access to the beach. Tina was easy to communicate with and the house was well equipped. Plus, the house is a lot of fun, with art, nature and books to enjoy. Highly recommend!!!!

When I began to follow the Artists' beach house instagram account I quickly began planning a trip up to far north queensland to experience what looked like paradise in our very own state! I'm from Brisbane, and whilst we have so many other travel destinations (a lot of them international and cheaper) available to us, why wouldn't you want to explore you're own backyard first?! Cairns and Port Douglas are amazing places to visit. Before arriving at the house for a week stay, we had stayed at a 5 star resort in Palm Cove. Whilst that was all very nice, we just couldn't relax, we needed our own space (particularly with a 3yo and 6mo!) So when we opened the door at the Artists' Beach House we were instantly relaxed, lots of cool breezes off the beach, a lovely outlook to the pool and rainforest, and lots of interesting little nooks to get lost in around the house! Other than seeing the sites and enjoying the beach, we rarely left the house for much. The kitchen is really well appointed (best I've seen in a holiday let!) and there are two areas for sharing meals (plenty of space for large families). Bathrooms and bedrooms were fresh and comfortable and having two lounge areas was really great. The tv on the ground level was new, so we made use of logging into our stan and netflix accounts (albeit interent was a little slow at times). My little 3yo also made good use of the toy box. Actually it wasn't hard entertaining him, he loved the house. The house is toddler friendly (in terms of windows etc) but we did have a little incident with the stairs, so we just barricaded them off in the evening. There are some good coffee places in the main part of town. You can either walk up the beach or take a drive in the car. Our favorite was Sparrow Coffee on the main street (Macrossan) and Origin Espresso on Warner St. We also really enjoyed the Lady Douglas River Cruise - we saw the infamous Charlie the croc! Loved Port Douglas and loved staying in this locally owned house!

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the fabulous Artists' Beach House. The eclectic art and furnishing collection; and the various spots to sit, read, play games, and chill out were totally appreciated. We stayed with my sister and a combined mob of 5 young adult boys, and all were well accommodated and thrilled to spend a week in Port Douglas in these beautiful surroundings. Communication with Tina was flawless, and the house was presented perfectly! Would not have any hesitation in recommending to others.

The Artists Beach House is a beautiful old Queenslander house, with all the perfect ingredients for a holiday in the tropics. The house is airy and relaxed. The art work and decor create a variety and colour which gives the house a fun and creative energy. We had excellent weather and were able to enjoy the natural ventilation, the pool and various decks and day beds. It suited our 3 generation holiday and we were very sad, in fact bereft to leave. We were moaning that the kitchen knives could be sharper but then had a good laugh at ourselves for scraping to find something to complain about.
