Freedive Geelong

Freedive Geelong provided the most amazing experience. James is professional, patient and has so much experience. You feel incredibly safe while learning the skills and techniques in the pool and out in the ocean. He able to provided support and feedback for all different peoples needs. I had the most wonderful time and will be booking more sessions with Freedive Geelong to continue and develop my free diving.Thanks James.

James and our skipper (Steve) were excellent. Both very professional, experienced but also relaxed - perfect for freediving. James is great at recognising the different needs of individuals and is able to adjust his teaching style accordingly. We had a great day diving outside the heads, complete with a school of tuna - magic.

I couldn’t recommend this course more! James is an excellent teacher; he is incredibly relaxed, experienced and personable. He adapts is teaching style to meet each individual’s needs to ensure everyone feels comfortable. I was able to safely breath hold for so much longer than I ever thought I could in just the first session. I have since been on an epic 2 hour ocean freedive with James and Steve (skipper) where we practiced integrating the skills we learnt from the basic freediver course. I will definitely be booking in for more training dives and have recommended this course to many family/friends already!

James is the best coach!! Passionate and informative, it’s impossible to not enjoy training with him. He clearly loves his sport and this really shows in how he delivers the course content. He makes everything understandable and is patient and always open to all questions. Safety is always number one. Helps too that he’s also a paramedic! Cannot speak highly enough about this course. James is approachable and helps you to feel relaxed and comfortable in the water and is a wealth of knowledge for all those questions (how do I wear a weightbelt, how do I stop mask fogging).

Learning how to freedive has been a goal of mine for years, and I'm so glad I did my course with James at Freedive Geelong. James is professional, warm + welcoming, and has a wonderful enthusiasm for the sport and teaching others how to do it. He's able to provide the theory and practical knowledge in a straight-forward way, while reminding you that freediving is a personal journey and all about having fun! I have completed the first stage of the PADI free dive beginner course with Freedive Geelong! The facilities are great and instruction, coaching and mentoring was awesome!!Can’t wait for the open water component!If your considering a free dive course, I would highly recommend Geelong Freedive!

As a casual snorkeler, I've been intrigued to learn the concepts of freediving to enhance the time I could explore & enjoy more the underwater beauty. Up until doing the PADI- Beginner Freediver 1 day course with James Cini, I felt like I could only stay down for such a short time before the struggle with buoyancy I would have to go back up. Basically I would just dive, & stay down as long as I could, come up and repeat. Most of my energy was also spent with not preparing for my relaxed breath holds before I would go down again, leaving less time to appreciate the underwater life. I can't recommend James highly enough. He is an excellent instructor, his knowledge, ability to identify where your possibilities are, and encouragement, made the day feel safe, comfortable, fun. The theory was comprehensive, practical & easily understood. I came away from the day feeling so assured and confident to hit the water and start to practise with my buddy, while been more mindful of our safety. I'm just so grateful that we did this course with James, it was so apparent that he loves what he does & loves passing on his knowledge & skills.

Taking a beginner freedive course with Freedive Geelong was one of the best decisions I’ve made. James covers all the essential practices needed for an enjoyable and safe dive, from breathing techniques, importance of staying relaxed and many other practices to help get the most out of your water activities, either pool training or ocean sports. The safety protocols taught I found to be extremely beneficial, giving me confidence in understanding what are safe practices and what are not. James is a highly experienced teacher/diver explaining all the sections covered in the freedive course, I have advised my friends and family to take beginner freedive with James and strongly recommend anyone else who enjoys water activities be it surfing, snorkelling or spearfishing to book in with Freedive Geelong .
