Captain's at the Bay

Captain’s at the Bay is perfect. The room is kept in top notch condition and the furnishing is modern. Very comfortable to stay too. This hotel is stated as a 3 star hotel on google but I feel it is at least 4 stars. The rates was quite reasonable at A$170 per night and even included breakfast

Absolutely loved this place! Duncan escorted us to our room and was so gracious. Convenient to everything. Bathroom had a 2 headed shower and there were beautiful plush robes to enjoy. Breakfast was wonderful... eggs cooked to order. Anna was so kind and gracious. We enjoyed the lovely chocolate koalas they left for us. Wish we could have stayed at least one more night. We felt like welcomed guests in their home!

What a gem! So glad we stumbled upon this little place. Super comfortable stay… great breakfast and great owners! Bed has been the most comfortable since arriving in Australia! Highly recommend!

We stayed for one night in the 'nor east' room and it was just perfect.We were greeted by the owner who was so helpful and informative - he recommended local restaurants and walks and was asking about our trip.The room was amazing. It was quite modern in style and had a stand alone bath separate from the lovely walk in shower. We had a balcony also which looked out over the town.The room had boardgames and you were able to borrow dvds from reception.The bed was very comfy and the room had Aircon which was needed.In the morning the breakfast was nice - you had the option of adding in a cooked breakfast alongside the buffet selection. I noticed there were no dairy alternatives but we didn't ask if these were available so can't comment on if they were able to provide it if needed.If we were ever back in this area we would definitely book to stay again!

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Sunday and found the place to be above and beyond in every way. First, we had to arrive late and the process was seamless--a note on the door to the reception telling us exactly where our room was and where to park. The cottage itself was lovely in every way--from a note welcoming us, to every amenity we might need, to just the most well-appointedness of the room, everything was perfect. The outdoor area was great, the room itself was spacious and the soaking tub was so wonderful after a long day of hiking.We unfortunately had to leave before breakfast but I was able to run out and buy some food in places that were close by--this was another plus. It is in easy walking distance of everything. The owner told my boyfriend about a possible stop off on the way back to Melbourne where we could see koalas. Though we didn't get to see any, we did see kangaroos and a kookaburra and a cockatoo. I only wish we had longer to spend but it was definitely a wonderful place to stay. I would just recommend booking directly on their site, as we did, as it's a lot more beneficial to small businesses than using the aggregator sites like Booking etc. Thank you for a lovely place to stay!

Absolutely wonderful overnight stay including breakfast. Big Thankyou to Anna and Duncan our hosts. Everything was within walking distance from here. Onsite parking outside our room. Highly recommend you put this place on your stay at list.

Amazing place! Room was very clean, warm and has great view. There's also a balcony for you to admire the night sky (full of stars) or sunrise. Breakfast was also amazing and the owners were super friendly. The place is also very accessible to other restaurants and mart. Amazing place!

I had the pleasure of meeting owners Duncan and Anna, beautiful, honest and accommodating people. They went above and beyond to ensure my family’s stay was enjoyable. We stayed in the top deck, rooms were clean and spacious.Definitely be back.

There is nothing words or photos can say that could describe the beautiful experience we had staying here. All of our original plans fell apart and we’re so glad they did, because we ended up somewhere so much better! From the really lovely room, the view and the amazing people who run it all, we had a truly great time and we will forever be grateful for the time spent.
