Staff were super knowledgeable and welcoming. Ed Centre is well thought out and easy to navigate. Visiting the Chifley house itself was really cool when you see the room Ben, as Prime Minister, worked in. Much different to the modern day.

My visit to the Chifley Home was educational, informative and fun.Lyn was a fantastic guide and went above & beyond to make the tour interesting by adding informative stories about the man who become an outstanding Prime Minister, also enjoyed her great sense of humour.Well worth a Visit. 10/10.James

Chifley house is a brilliant piece of history, allowing you to remember (if your older) or imagine (if you’re younger) life in the 1940s before technology drastically changed our way of life. My kids love it and so did I, particularly because of Lynette engaging style which gave us an opportunity to ask and answer questions along the way. Thrilled to support the preservation of such a beautiful historic home, and to help my kids remember the importance of family discussions, neighbourhood communities, and repairing or reusing before discarding everything to landfill.

You walk into Ben & Elizabeth Chifley's home and it feels like they have just gone out. It has been well loved and cared for. The two staff members are so friendly and ready to share their knowledge on one of our ex Prime Ministers and his wife. They are doing an amazing. It was only by chance we came across this piece of Australian history, I saw a postcard of a lovely looking house in the information centre, the young lady said it was well worth a visit, how right she was. I think more advertising should be done, Old Parliment House in Canberra, is an obvious place to start. The little information booklet on the Chifley Home could be displayed there. More people outside of Bathurst need to know about this amazing piece of history.

A great educational experience. Our school-aged kids learned about life in the early-to-mid twentieth century, and also some personal details about the lives of Ben & Elizabeth Chifley. We were impressed by their humility; even though he was Prime Minister, the Chifleys lived very simply. The house and adjoining museum were well laid-out and the guide, Lynette, was very warm and engaging. We recommend it to families or school groups.

Surprisingly excellent one hour experience visiting a piece of Australia’s history - we learnt so much about former PM Ben Chifley and his wife Elizabeth, the way they lived and his contribution as leader. Our guide Lynette was very knowledgeable and engaging. We loved the rare opportunity to play a pianola in the lounge room. Highly recommended for adults and children alike.

Great experience. Chifley the Remarkable and humble man. Lyn was such a nice story teller and made our visit memorable. Playing the piano was fun and no one should miss it. Bathurst Council’s great job of looking after the place is highly commendable. What a simple and kind woman, Elizabeth was… Good memories I will have…

Do not skip this museum in your Bathurst museum pass unless you have kids. There is a lot to see in a very small space and its very difficult to find such a well known home with its collection in tact, in such good condition with little to no barriers to the exhibits. The cottage sports a lot of the Chiefleys history as well as culturally significant items that really flesh out what life was like back then as well as key points during Ben's career as prime minister. The keen eyed will find many items of the war period now repurposed as household decorations as well as furniture which was converted to fit the living requirements of the chiefleys. The people at the museum are enthusiastic and well read on the subject. I spent two hours with the guide only scratching the surface of the rich history the museum has to offer.Definitely stop by, it's worth an hour of your time.

The Ben Chifley name is bandied around and his home helps put it into perspective. He appeared to live a humble life and be very humble about his position in life. This is truly a wonderful place to visit. The guide was passionate and was well informed of the man. The only sad thing is that because of religion his wife was unable to be interned with him at the Bathurst Cemetary.
