You really have to check the prices on your receipt if the are correct. There has been a lot of times the item was on special but was not charged at the cash register.

Always out of basic stock. Shelf stacking done during busy times making it very hard to shop. Prices are ridiculously high Even for fruit and veg in season. Fruit and veg is often very old, soft or rotten.

The time has come for all Supermarkets to stop profiteering. I accept that prices will be higher given that Cooktown is considered remote but some of the prices are not justified. I have had to tell staff on two occasions that the product on the shelf is out of date. On the most recent occasion by 2 weeks. The product was on special, and it was not replaced until the specials were finished for the week. Not all people can read, and there are a lot of people in Cooktown where English is a second language. Definitely a lot of room for improvement as it is our only Supermarket.

Reasonable selection but the staff are very rude. I should have apologised to the lady at the small goods counter for coming to her place of work and ruining her day by shopping.The woman her put my groceries through just threw them at which I had to then pack...not the IGA experience i am used to.

The only supermarket in town so there are times when the stock gets low particularly during weather events and holidays, but overall a good supply of most things you need, including specialty items like GF and vegan. Fruit and Veg quality is variable. Staff are helpful and friendly. There's a well stocked and reasonably priced bottle shop attached.
