Avis Car & Truck Rental Melbourne Airport

Absolutely brilliant service from Avis/Budget car rental at Melbourne airport. From checkin with Betty and Christina to collecting the car and dropping it back - just brilliant. Also left a phone in the rental car and didn’t realise until we’d crossed the other side of security… Aaron was amazing and found the phone and brought it to security. Will never use any other car rental companies when hiring at Melbourne Airport. 5* all the way!

Always terrible customer service, often leave you standing outside in the cold waiting 30mins for a car that you pre-booked. Will never use again

I booked a car with avis 3 weeks ago, had a wonderful experience. A guy named Joban, he was very professional and humble. Had knowledge about each and every thing.. very quick service. He knows what he is doing.

*Updated Review*Initially overcharged me for a large sum, this branch's team was responsive and apologised with a very kind gesture. I recommend the branch, although Avis has a long way to go in terms of internal processes that leave people out of pocket for such a long time.

When my flight is an hour late, my prebooked vehicle should be ready. I gave you a weeks notice.No staff at main counter.

I have booked a vehicle and paid for the booking, drove 1.5 hours to Tullamarine to pick up the car. Avis refused to give me a car because I did not hold a utility bill with my name and the address in Melbourne same as in my drivers license. I showed a rental receipt for the property where I lived in my name and the address same as on the drivers license but the manager of the rental shop refused to take it, he can only accept a utility bill. I asked the staff to explain to me how do they rent out cars to people who arrive to the airport from overseas and do not hold an address in Melbourne, I received no answer. I explained to the staff that I am in a delicate situation and really need the car as booked, I had no time to make another booking somewhere else on the following day, despite, the refused to give the car. Avis has wasted my time for no reason, caused me load of stress, I nearly had to postpone my flight to Europe given this event and I will never use their service again.

Terrible experience here last week, waited 45mins to collect a vehicle, even when I am a 'Preferred' customer, and was rent a higher end BMW. Team couldn't care less, and said if you don't like us

Dishonest and incompetent regarding toll payments. Told it would be paid from my card and billed after the rental period (unlike any other rental company I've used, but at this stage the car is already booked and I'm there picking it up). Instead they created a linkt account in my name with a misspelt email address. Because of this mistake I did not receive any notification emails about it, only a text over a week after the fact (which very much looked like a scam given I hadn't set up an account, had been told the tolls were paid automatically). So I had to go in, retrieve the log in info, fix my details, and then pay the tolls.

Absolutely useless. RACV organised a car to be booked for us while our car was being repaired. Everything was confirmed and I was told to pick up the car. So after an almost 1 hour Uber which I paid for, I arrived and was told my booking had been cancelled by racv. I called RACV and they said they never cancelled the booking, Avis airport had actually cancelled it as they had rented the car out to some one else. So now I have to Uber back to work and find another rental company. Wasted half of my day and I have no car to drive. Beware this store is incompetent and ii advise against going here.

Do not hire from Avis. I hired a truck for a day and filled the fuel full tank while returning a sec per the instructions. They charged 59.50$ saying the tank is not full and they filled 14 litres of fuel. That’s outrageous. Ripping the customers.
