Worst practice i’ve ever been to and the worst in Rockhampton! Bad communication and customer service. They wont admit to booking mistakes and if you make a comment or a complaint about it they will just cut you off mid sentence then cancel the appointment if you don’t agree! And if you challenge it further or any other concerns they will threaten to call the police to kick you out!!?? Horrible experience and terrible practice manager! Never go here just avoid all together.

Long overdue review. This medical centre seems far more concerned with profits rather than the health of their patients. I had several appointments at Alma Street Medical in the past and made an appointment due to mild chest pain I had started to feel. As a young father I felt it was important to make an appointment immediately. The doctor I had previously seen was unavailable so I made an appointment with any available practitioner. This was during the initial Covid-19 flare up in Australia and Alma Street Medical was requiring every patient to have a temperature check before appointments (completely understandable) whilst I was feeling well I had a high temperature and was informed they could not see me and I had to leave the surgery (completely understandable) I did however inform the nurse that I had been feeling chest pain and asked if the doctor could give me some advice. The doctor then came briefly to see me where I explained the chest pain sensation I was experiencing and her advice was to go to emergency at the hospital if it intensified. Imagine my shock when I went to the front counter to re-book and was told that there was a fee of roughly $80 for today’s consultation….I had previously been bulk billed at this surgery and queried why I was being billed for what I consider a non consultation and temperature check and the response was as a privately billed clinic their charges were up to the doctors discretion. Apparently this doctor felt her opinion that intensifying chest pain should be taken to the emergency department was worth at least $80. After this I decided to move to Gracemere Family Practice which has given my family and myself excellent care. After several appointments with my new GP I was asked if I could obtain my medical records from my previous physician. Now I had less than five appointments with Alma Street Medical and assumed this was not a problem. When I called the surgery I was told they would not release my medical records unless I paid an administration fee. Absolutely disgusted. Finally my wife recently tried to make an appointment with Alma Street Medical as last resort, we are a young family in a finite budget so she inquired if the appointment would be bulk billed. The response she received was again we are privately billed and it was at the discretion of the doctor. Alma Street Medical feels like a business run for profit and I certainly felt as if my health came second to their profit. I will never go back.

Our long term GP has moved here, when trying to make an appointment we aren't entitled to emergency daily appointments for our 2 yo and 4yo children because we are new patients to Alma Street. We have to wait a week although there was multiple appointments aside and avaliable for that day. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement, we aren't patients with anyone else and our GP has all post op surgury, specualist referals and prescription history for allergies. I guess we'll just wait a week to become patients of our family GP?

If you want to go to a doctors clinic where the reception staff don’t sound like they want to help you this is the place to go. As well as, if you want to go to a clinic where your appointment is at 12pm and you don’t get seen until 1:30/2pm because they serve people that had appointments scheduled after yours just for you to get a script renewed that is done within 3 minutes… this is the clinic for you. Oh and you still get charged $80 for a piece of paper! This is the last straw for me.

They don't do basic things like renew a script for a regular asthma medication over the phone, even in the most desperate of circumstances. Have to go to another doctor who doesn't even know me just for a simple script. Totally pointles and such poor service. Never had so many hassles over something this simple before. I'm done with them.

Extremely dangerous so called doctors. One tells me I can be dead within a month. Next one tells me I won't die, then prescribes a daily aspirin for my heart without checking my heart. 5 days later I'm up for a transfusion because I ended up with a gastrointestinal heamorrage. Avoid at all cost.

Courteous, caring staff with great doctors, both male and female. My whole family, myself, my mother, my son and his family are patients at this clinic and we are all very happy with the service we receive. The nurses are wonderful, very caring and professional.

Have been asked not to return to the practice after leaving a genuine comment and guess what... the lengthy wait times are still an issue.Still waiting 90minutes after my appointment time. No one explained why. Don't bother using Alma Street Medical if you aren't prepared to wait as long as you do up at the Rockhampton 'Butcher's' Hospital (aka rocky base)""

Extremely caring and professional doctors and staff. I’ve been attending this surgery for over 20 years and am very satisfied with my care. Although wait times can extend out at times, I also recognise that emergencies will always occur and am confident that sufficient time is always allowed during consultations to address important issues.
