Loved the ambience and the food (Risotto was a bit salty). The service was so good too, but 2 hour limit was a bit short though.Might go back and experience outdoor seatings next time.

Fantastic venue and possibly the best service in the suburb. We ordered a range of entree's and mains with a great choice of wine pairing by our server. This is my go to location with friends and from my previous visits compared to this experience, it warranted a review.Here is some gentle feedback for consideration.- we ordered a large selection of plates over the seating, but it was apparent that they where cooked in quick succession and left in the warmer until we where ready- we ordered medium rare steak, we got well done with a portion size that was questionable.- pasta portion size at $39 was also questionable but delicious- the sticky date wasn't ready for serving

The Cottage Balmain
We came to the Cottage Balmain for a special occasion. There were 9 of us and they gave us a table in the courtyard all to ourselves. It was such a lovely area where we got to have privacy with a toddler. The food was amazing, we ordered some small plates to share and the sticky date pudding is a must try. Service was attentive and we would definitely come back again.

Overall great food. Cocktails seem to be very popular but we didn't try. Sprouts are interesting, a twist. Steak was a bit overdone and charred , and not medium rare as requested but still succulent. Sweet potato fries are yummy. Crab tagliatelle probably the best today. Pizza maker not around today

Lovely food and atmosphere. The presentation of the food was excellent and everything was packed full of flavour and freshness. The inside area is really cosy and the outdoor area is really charming, particularly at night with the garden lights on. The staff were also excellent. Highly recommend.

An inner west favourite. Fantastic shaded courtyard, with heaters in the cooler months. The team at cottage are friendly and the meals a delight. The charred Brussel sprouts will change the way you think about this vegetable and the octopus tail cooked to perfection. The crab pasta was well balanced with a good seafood bisque flavour and a good hint of chilli. I found the steak to be marginally over what I asked for but always a lovely experience dining here.

Great food. Service from the wait staff we got was disappointing though. Be came back to our table twice asking if we wanted drinks even though we ordered drinks with him! And then he really rushed us out. I understand the 2 hour time limit on dining, but we were told the next booking was half an hour away so we ran 10 mins later. The waiter rushing us and asking whether we were done with a shared plate twice within 2 mins when there was clearly food on it still was uncalled for. A nicer way would have been to offer to pack the food away for us. It was a pity because the ambience was beautiful.
