Our twin boys have been studying piano with Illya since 2012. At the time the twins were 6 years old and had previous tuition with two other teachers. However as we moved house we had to find a new piano teacher. By pure luck we found Illya in a local advertisement and we could not have been more fortunate.Illya is an amazing pianist and piano teacher. Our boys immediately formed a strong bond with Illya which reflected in their motivation levels and their fast progress through the AMEB levels. They are now 11 years old and practicing for level 8 of the AMEB piano curriculum. My daughter has been attending the academy for a number of years and has learnt to play increasingly harder pieces with no strain in the hands and fingers using the European techniques taught. Illya is a highly skilled and talented teacher who is very patient with children but also encourages them to stretch beyond their comfort zone during the lessons.

Illya is not only an amazing pianist but also a very professional, experienced,methodical and patient teacher.Before meeting Illya, my daughter had learned the piano for two years but she did not practice the basic skills well.She began to hate the piano with the increasing difficulty of the music. Fortunately my friend introduced us to learn from Illya. Illya has a lot of teaching experience.He found out my daughter's main problem at the first lesson and used his own methods to teach her basic skills and corrected her mistakes again and again.The fact proved that his training methods is very effective.Now my daughter's finger flexibility has made obvious progress.She enhances the basic skills and is not afraid of difficult tunes.Illya's teaching is demanding. He often explains and demonstrates how to play the details of a piece perfectly, while he is patient, good-tempered and never angry. Illya is the very best piano teacher for my son. After changing from another teacher to Illya, my son start enjoying learning piano and making impressive progress. Illya is very patient with young kids and he has the magic to bond and motivate them. My son is 6.5 years old now and he has been studying with Illya for over a year. Illya himself was a piano prodigy in his own country, mastered the European piano teaching method, which would lay the solid foundation for someone who dream high in the piano playing.My daughter started to feel stale and hard to progress when she was trying to learn for grade 6. I knew many learners would drop out by that stage. The problem lies in the foundation of the finger training etc, which reflects the teaching method. Many piano teachers are not equipped well with the right teaching method, which would discourage students to go for high grades. I felt very lucky to be able to find Illya. He, with the European method and very caring attitude, fixed my daughter's problem. Now she feels much more enjoyable to learn difficult pieces, and has made very good progress, passed grade 7 with Distinction. If she puts more hours into the piano learning, she could be very good in playing the piano.Illya is not just good in the piano teaching, he has immersed himself in European literatures, is a good person to inspire students as well. Don't forget all parents want their child to be a good citizen as well as good in the piano playing. I highly recommend Illya if you think your kid would like the piano and serious about learning. He has so many students currently, I suggest you book early as often he is fully booked out. I am so grateful that he made my daughter enjoy learning the piano again and progresses much easier and quicker with the same effort.

My son in Illya’s piano class since 8 years ago when he is 5 years old, the journey of this in music classic is exceptional, he grownup from know nothing to finishing grade 8 in A, He is becoming more interesting in piano, thanks Illya’s professional technical teaching, focusing in detail performance, and rhythm in mood and fun.
