Pretty nice, secluded restaurant with amazing choice of steaks. Staff was very attentive, and helpful. Incredible choice of Japanese and Australian beef but beware, prices are extremely high (some cases more than $500 for a steak)

This was a great place to go for a special occasion. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to explain different types of wagyu beef to some rookie diners. The food quality was amazing, and couldn’t fault a single thing.

It was an amazing experience, steak was cooked really well according to our request. Got two different types and they are both delicious. The other side dishes we ordered, like the lobster brioche toast was amazing too. We can really tell that they are true to the quality standard they advertised with the price. Service was really nice, place has a good ambience. Really recommend for those looking for a nice steak and dining experience :)

I had the best dinner ever at Steer Dining Room in almost 4 years living in Melbourne. All dishes were very delicious and yummy. The best steak ever! Thank you so much Harold and FOH team for all your hospitality and attention, you are amazing. Chef Jeffry I'm your fan!!! I highly recommend it, my top 1!!!

If you're looking for an exceptional restaurant to truly get a taste of Melbourne Fine Dining, STEER is the place to go. Not only are their staff absolutely wonderful, with excellent service and knowledge on their steaks, but the chef's in the back do spectacular work.Being a little more on the pricey side, it is well worth it for a special occasion or celebration... or if you're just feeling a bit fancy!Will be back again for sure!Edit: Came back on 3/4/23 and it was just as exceptional as the last time. They have also added some fantastic non alcoholic drink options for those not drinking.Plus their steak options are always absolutely spectacular.I neglected to take a picture of the Heirloom Tomatoes with Stracciatella and basil oil, but oh my life, one of the best things I've ever eaten hands down.

Best steakhouse in Melbourne, hands down. I was privileged to go to this restaurant on a few occasions, and I thoroughly enjoyed every visit at Steer. The meat was cooked to perfection, incredibly juicy and tender with so much flavour. Entrees and starters were beyond amazing, and the service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend Steer to anyone looking for good food with a beautiful ambience :)

My partner and I had a wonderful time at Steer Dining last Friday. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. We ordered the below items, all dishes we would recommend to our close family and friends,- Wagyu Steak Tartare - the flavors married well within the dish, you were still able to the taste the freshness of the beef & ingredients in it.- Mayura Station (Full Blood Wagyu) Scotch Fillet 300g (medium rare) - each piece melted in your mouth and we felt like we were in heaven, we still think about this dish as we're writing this review.- Barramundi for our main - the fish tasted really fresh, we used this as a palate cleanser between each piece of steak.- Mashed potatoes for the side - didn't need to chew, was so soft, pretty much puréed- Chestnut Creme Brulee - warm and yummyOur waiter Hansol was outstandingly accommodating and offered excellent advice about the differences between the type of steaks on the menu, helping us choose the right steak based off our own personal preferences & what we would enjoy. He really made the experience that much more enjoyable. We will definitely cherish our experience spent at Steer Dining and hope to one day come back to dine again.

This was our first visit to the Steer, well we were thoroughly impressed with our whole experience hear, The moment we walked in the host was quick to seat us.Now seated and watered the start of the show has begun as the menus were delivered then came the onslaught of wagyu no from Hida full blood A5 wagyu from Japan to Mayura full blood wagyu from South Australia and many many more. Now the waiter had the full explanation of everything from region to tasting notes and best way to start the process.So we thought the explanation of everything was great then the cart of wagyu was brought around with all the different cuts and different types of wagyu from region so you know it’s the real deal.So we order some Hida sirloin and a Mayura scotch fillet with some sides to accompany, to our surprise they bring the uncooked steaks like a fine wine to inspect as to see the selection and once given the nod away they went to the grill to be cooked to absolute perfection.The chef had thrown a spaner in the works tantalising our taste buds with a puffed beef tendon and sepia emulsion amuse Bouche and probably some of the nicest house made bread I have eaten. Once all was devoured the pate was commenced the smooth velvety texture and the sweetness of a cognac complimented brilliantly by the relish this dish was a winner.Now for the star of the show………!Now these two different wagyu had such different flavour so for the Hida A5 sirloin had an almost caramel flavour from the char of the grill and literally melts as your eating it the texture was unlike any other steak I have eaten.As for the Mayura Scotch fillet this had more firmness than the Hida wagyu and a stronger flavour not as sweet, you could tell that the chef knew exactly what he was doing because these two steaks were cooked to absolute perfection. This is definitely the best steak experience in Melbourne.Once mission was accomplished we thought everything has been so perfect let’s see if the can cap it of with desert at the same level as the steaks.Well they did an amazing strawberry concoction all the flavours melding together so brilliantly and the peanut butter parfait was intensely flavoured at the same time both these dishes were perfectly balanced.This concluding our little night out.We would like to say thank you to the waiters and the chefs for making our experience so memorable.

We love Steer and this is not our first time there. Food was delicious and as our first time was during the pandemic - now service has improved as well - fast and caring.The only issue we had was dress code - as a high end restaurant we expected people not to be let in in shorts and sports attire, which was the table next to us.We were celebrating a birthday and having men as they said come from a football match" and not be bothered to wear pants or anything appropriate for such a setting bothered us as well as the couple next to us also celebrating a birthday - would be great to see the dress code kept to a higher standard especially when you are spending over $400 per person. Otherwise everything was amazing and food and service wise cannot recommend it more."

Sep 2022: Firstly this place is expensive. But here it is worth it. Wonderful steak tartare, amazing service, diverse wine list and out of this world steak. We got two of the cheaper" options (all relative here given the exceptional quality of produce) and they were still astonishing."
