Escarpment Retreat & Day Spa

favourite go-to for a mini holiday out of the city. over the last few years have stayed a handful of times in most of the villas, received an assortment of spa treatments, booked the private cinema room and always enjoy the brekkie. We find this place spiritually cleansing - we always leave with weight lifted off our shoulders and ready to get back in the trenches. Can't wait to hurry up and get stressed out again so we can have an excuse to go back

So reading other reviews… yes it could be seen as dated, a little old… yes there’s been a few bugs (no cockroaches for us)…But my wife and I have had nothing but a brilliant experience here. The rooms for the price are huge, comfy and just a great place to stay with a spa bath and everything you need. Set in a beautiful location it’s picturesque and very relaxing just being here! The breakfast we got over the three days was just perfect, not going to be the fanciest food but was tasty and filling.The day spa…the ladies were brilliant, the massage/facial were great and we left very relaxed.The cinema… what a great idea and we’ll worth the few extra bucks.Then there’s Carolynne the manager, can’t be grateful enough for her assistance that was over and above what would be expected, spent ages chasing us transport for New Year’s Eve, called to check we had a place for dinner New Year’s Day as she thought it would be booked out, made sure the stay was as perfect as could be.Highly recommend it, we’ll be back for sure!!

Stunk like mould, couldn't breathe.the air con fell on top of the bed. The main area was smelly, and there was mould under the place mats. So they don't change table settings much. I will add that this was after heaps of rain. But I was not happy and we booked out 3 rooms and they were all the same. And they even stuffed up our rooms. Won't be back at all .

Returned to the escarpment after tens years, spent my honeymoon there. Upon arrival was greeted by Shane. Upon check in we spoke of our excitement of having a fire. This dream was shot down as the chimney was deemed unsafe as it hadn't been cleaned. We moved past this, however upon arrival to our chalet we found a dehumidifier in need of emptying. The whole place was damp, water marks down the wall. The furniture was worn and the seating especially seemed to have mold. The bathroom also showed signs of mold on the roof. The only heating was the air conditioning, which was insufficient. We requested an extra heater (as no log fire was alowd) to be given a fan heater the size of a lunch box once found. We stayed one night as we couldn't find an alternative. Tried breakfast another disappointment. Received full refund for our experience, still did not fully reimburse the experience however

WOW! Honestly this place is by far the best place I have stayed in. Absolutely perfect in every way. So peaceful and stunning. The room is epic, and so clean. The view is to die for and the owner is such a kind and beautiful lady too. If you read this, book, you won't regret it I promise you. So much to see and do here without even leaving the property. My partner and I get to spend 3 wonderful days in the magical place and it's honestly like a dream.

This was our experience that others should be aware of before they stay here.- Villa was overpowered with a musty / mold / damp smell that did not go during our 4x night stay (despite a dehumidifier being utilised)- Villa did not appear to be cleaned sufficiently before we arrived – flies and hair in the bath, spider webs, dusts, rubbish wrappers in the bathroom just to name a few- Villas are joined to another villa with the ability to hear significant / intimate details of noise from next door- Because villas are joined, they share a water supply. Water was non-existent when next door is filling up their large spa bath (which is what we were told when we inquired as to why we didn’t have any water, then we were told we’d just have to wait). The following day, when we filled our bath up, next door obviously recognised the same problem, but must have complained as a handyman came to the door to check our water pressure (which was a trickle by this stage, and why it was taking so long to fill the bath). He ended up cleaning the grounds water filter which improved the pressure, but didn’t fix the issue of reduced pressure when both villas are using water simultaneously- Rooms are not serviced during the stay – not ideal with rubbish needing collection and toiletries needing a top up during longer stays- Nothing about the villa or grounds were ‘luxury’, unfortunately the villa, the furniture and the styling were old and dated which would require significant money spent on it to get anywhere close to being another above a 3 star / luxury retreat we were expecting. Examples include: cracked tiles in bathroom, cracked tile around the fireplace, only 2 of 4 heat lamps in the bathroom were working, mold on silicone in bathroom, stained lounge, broken bedhead, broken dining chair, downlight hanging down by a wire, dirty water stains running down the walls and from the air conditioner, very dated furniture and facilities- Kitchenette was a sink, bar fridge and microwave. No cooking facilities or bbq- We didn’t try the complimentary breakfast as we feared more of the same over-promised luxury. There are too many lovely places on the mountain that have great breakfasts, coffee and views- Don’t book this if you want a quiet, “luxury” retreat to spoil yourself and a loved one – book this if you don’t mind a rustic, old villa with a luxury price-tag- Despite being willing to pay the additional cleaning fee, and the mountain nights still being cold during spring, you CANNOT use the fireplace because it’s outside the months someone services / cleans the fireplace – just an FYI- Overall, despite having potential, this place is unfortunately drab, not fab.

Our daughter booked a stay on 26th May, my wifes special birthday, we liked our villa but she was dissapoited that the fireplace was unavailable , she was really looking forward to that, we also had a problem as Judith has a mobility issue and the porch light was not working so it was hard to negotiate, it took the edge of our stay

The peace and tranquillity during our stay was precisely what we had hoped for. Villa #4 is absolutely beautiful with a huge very comfortable 4 post bed and lovely decor. Our villa was clean and spacious providing the perfect ambience for a couple of nights to recharge and refresh. The Escarpment was different to our expectations but in a good way ! Initially it would be easy for some to criticise but if you can see the ongoing improvements / renovations being made while still maintaining the absolute peace and quiet is a credit to the management. It must be difficult to rebuild decks and maintain gardens and grounds etc. silently. The bathroom was very clean and spacious with hot water on demand. Looking out into a rainforest setting from every window is lovely. The breakfast each morning served in a dining room was wonderful, taste, quality, freshness and service made us look forward each day to breakfast. Carolynne manages The Escarpment with a friendly helpful demeanour and professional attitude. Always willing to assist with any requests. We will be back !

Absolute wonderful experience why go to Bali when you can have it all at the escarpment on mt Tamborine serenity and wonderful service,loved it.

We stayed at one of the villas. The property is spacious with beautiful gardens and decorations. The room was big and clean with a nice rustic vibe. The breakfast (included in our package) was simple yet wholesome and delicious with fresh ingredients. Perfect romantic yet affordable getaway, situated near the Tamborine Mountain botanical gardens and other rainforest trails!
