My mum has been here for three months now and so far she and the family are happy with the care. The staff are friendly and attentive, they have an excellent activities program and the rooms and common areas are light and spacious. I would recommend this facility

Fantastic complex with abundant natural light and wide corridors. Very well designed. Residence manager is very open and caring which seems to follow on with the majority of the staff.

Our very elderly mother has been in blue Cross Ivanhoe for over a year.We cannot fault the care she has been given.Without exception the staff are patient, kind, cheerful and friendly to her. They are very professional in their communications with us and of course the facility itself is beautiful. Thanks Blue Cross

We were very lucky to get our Nan in here for some respite. As soon as Nan had been there a couple of weeks we knew this was where we wanted her to be for permanent care. Nan is very happy there. She eats which she had stopped doing . Apparently the food is yummy. The staff take good care of her and are always accommodating to our needs. They even called us in to advise that they were putting her in higher care. They even let us visit with our little puppies which brings a smile to everyones faces in there. Highly recommend this place

Was racially abused at this facility, manager Ann and HR didn’t even care, staff member didn’t even face any disciplinary action. If you’re non white, good luck working there!

My mother was admitted for respite and from the first meeting with Katriona Foster to the date when she was discharged we can only say that the entire experience was wonderfully pleasant. All the staff were friendly and professional. The food according to mum was very good. The room was very clean and bright with a large window, and the bed very comfortable. The whole establishment has a very pleasant atmosphere about it, with lots of decoration and art works and a great deal of space. The many large public areas mean that the residents can mix with others or find a pleasant corner to be alone.Whilst mum was lucky enough to get well and be able to go home, she would be very happy to return when and if the need arises. The only negative comment we have is about the bed pole to assist in getting out of bed. We felt it was positioned too far down the bed to be used comfortably.Thank you one and all for my mothers pleasant experience.

After a long period of uncertainty we made the difficult decision to place my father with dementia into care. This decision was very hard and after a tour of Blue Cross Ivanhoe we hoped to have found a place my father would be safe and well cared for. Although some of the nurses and care staff were lovely unfortunately due to several miscommunications with senior employees it was not a positive experience. Room placements, room changes that were planned but never too place (although continually assured day after day that they would), hearing aides never put in, medication not ordered before it ran out, medication left in his room and finally having my dad incorrectly classified as needing to be in the MSU all resulted in a very difficult time for our family. My father is now in another aged care, where we were informed after a short period of observation that he did not need to be in a MSU, and where he has settled very happily after a few days (with hearing aides in!)Victoria Anderson

Christine the manager is why we won’t be booking here again. Have never come across a more rude, demeaning and unsympathetic aged care manager before in my life, and as a health care professional myself of 10 years I have come across a lot !She completely lacked any empathy and had the audacity to rudely attack a family member of mine upon leaving the facility as a result of staying an extended period of time when strict visiting times had been implemented due to covid19. We had been given verbal permission on compassionate grounds directly by the clinical care coordinator to stay longer and were made to feel like children being told off by the principal.Further more, at the pre admission visit, we expressed our concerns with potential falls and strategies to implement to reduce this such as crash mats, falls alarm, to which Christine replied back with “maybe this isn’t the right place for him”. Naturally taken back by this comment, it appeared they weren’t interested in taking on high care need respite residents in my opinion, way to advocate and sell your services.Christine is a bully and bullied my family whilst visiting our grandfather in respite. She brings down the whole spirit of what aged care is about with her horrible character and cold nature.

Our experience of Blue Cross Ivanhoe was very unsatisfactory and left our family in great distress. Our dementia suffering father was placed in respite(although we came with a clear need for permanent care), in the most unsuitable room at the end of a long corridor, furthest from the nursing station, leaving him unable to find his room. Repeated agreements to move him were not acted upon. Ultimately he was very anxious and regressed, wandering into other rooms. After a month we were told that he had not been clinically approved to stay on and we needed to find a place in a memory support unit elsewhere. We had 10 days to do so! Much of this assessment was made during times the care staff had failed to put dad’s hearing aids in, so along with his dementia he could barely hear. One night a sheet of temazapan was left by his bed.Our story ends happily in a new residence where dad has the perfect room, is settled, secure, safe and his hearing aids are in!I do not in anyway recommended this residence and with the benefit of hindsight can see all the ways my dad was care for so inadequately! In reference to the reply from Blue Cross below, l merely say please do not pretend you do not know what occurred with my family.

Can anyone tell me if the combustible cladding covering Blue Cross Ivanhoe has been removed yet? I raised this issue back in early 2020 after I had signed the contract and arranged for my mother to move in. It would have been a decisive factor for me given the importance I placed on her safety, but I wasn’t informed about this before hand. Subsequently I raised the matter with Blue Cross and in a complaint to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. The Commission told me it was not issue they could deal with because it was not covered by the Aged Care Act, and they could not do anything about it.If the combustible cladding has still not been removed, can someone also tell me are residents and their families being informed that it is covering the building before they sign any contracts? Call me old fashioned, but I do think transparency and honesty are fundamental considerations, especially when you are dealing with vulnerable people in our aged care system.
