Oaks Beach
A lovely public beach that is patrolled during the busy periods. We went there one evening to see if we could see turtles nesting, we didn't. However we did meet some fantastic volunteers who keep a look out for nesting turtles and monitor activitiy. These folsk are awesome and are real unsung hereos for the turtles nesting in QLD.

We were lucky to arrive just after a turtle layed her eggs, and watched her bury them and return to the ocean. An amazing opportunity to witness.

Oaks Beach is around 18km out of the Bundaberg CBD in Burnett Heads area. The beach is patrolled 7 days a week from 8am-5pm during warmer seasons. There are no dogs allowed on the beach, has ample car parking or can be accessed along well constructed concrete footpaths the whole coastline. It has freshwater showers and a public toilet block as well as flagged swimming area as mentioned above surf life saver patrolled. There are rocks in the water in the swimming area so be careful not to stub your toes. Oaks beach has roofed Park benches, some shady trees and a board walk. Great spot

Great spot for a morning coffee following a brisk walk along the foreshore. The winter sun shining on the water looked particularly good, so I took a photo.

Had the chance to see turtles nesting. Pics taken using a smart phone, so it is not as good as a professional camera. Managed to see one turtle come ashore. Great experience watching nature at its best

What a lovely place at Burnett Heads. The fairy garden is amazing and a big thank you to those persons responsible for creating this little wonderland. My wife, daughter and granddaughter were blown away with this display. Thank you
