This hidden gem was where we held our end of year drinks and I will definitely be coming back! The atmosphere was beautiful with lovely lighting, booths and and semi-outdoor courtyard that would suit a group of friends or a casual date depending on where you sit.The menu was fresh and I was told that all the fruit and veg is sourced locally. Service was friendly but at the same time very professional.I was really impressed with the prices as it's all so affordable considering how fancy the food looks and tastes. Highly recommend!

This place is such a hidden gem tucked away just off the beaten path and well worth a visit. As a first time visitor to Australia, I had high expectations of the food scene and was not let down. We enjoyed several small plates throughout the evening that were just as unique as they were delicious. From the fried garlic shoots with spicy aioli to the perfectly cooked and locally sourced beef we continued to be delighted and surprised by the chef’s choice of plates that kept coming out of the kitchen. I was very impressed with the service, the staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Eating out can be a challenge for me as I have Celiac Disease but the servers and kitchen staff made an exceptional effort to ensure that I was not missing out on anything and provided lovely gluten-free options for me. A great culinary experience – I tried several new things that I would not normally think to order and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed them! The decor is very warm and modern with an organic feel to it – very comfortable and cozy, like you are enjoying dinner at a friend’s house. When I return to Melbourne this will be my first stop for dinner!

HOST is always fantastic. We usually go for the daily set menu which is a great cross section of almost everything on the menu. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service warm and friendly. The wine list is really interesting too.

We came here after being given a voucher as a wedding gift. It was an amazing night. The food was incredible, and as we ordered​two vegan set menus, the chef's we're making it up as they went and doing a great job.The staff were super friendly (I often get anxious in fancy places, but they really sold the tone of this place as fun and relaxing), and the cocktails were incredible (especially if you're a fan of Italian bitters).

We had dinner with friends at Host a week or so ago and really enjoyed the meal, attentive service and intimacy of the venue. We ordered the shared menu and tried things which we never has considered a la carte and I loved just about everything (a small dish featuring turnip was a let down - woody and tasteless), from entree to desert. It was disappointing that wine is so expensive, with nothing on the list under about $60. Overall a great evening.

The Saxon St Sour is A++ and the food and drink offering is excellent all round! I've been several times and thought they were particularly good at accommodating dining partners with dietary requirements.

This place is incredible. The food, the wine, the decor is something that I think was missing in Melbourne. Everything from the food ingredients to presentation has its own style. The staff is extremely knowledgable but also approachable/humble. To top it off, my wife is gluten free (Celiac) and instead of just giving her 1 or 2 options, the kitchen went out of their way to make sure she didn't feel like she was missing out on the experience. My go to spot when I'm in Melbourne.

Nothing more Melbourne that a hip modern eatery hidden away in the burbs. You can really appreciate the amount of effort, thought and technique used to make the tasting menu. Would be a great date night or special occassion dining

Had an absolutely wonderful evening with Host. The kitchen were happy to make a veggie version of the set menu for both of us. Every course was a delight and really managed to showcase the kitchens ability and the quality of produce. Staff were genuinely warm and very friendly. Can't wait to come back.

We loved our meal at Host! Wonderful food, great service, and a really welcoming and cosy atmosphere. The dessert with blood orange sorbet is truly one of the best things I’ve eaten in a while! You can tell they really put thought and care into their dishes, which is appreciated.Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in Melbourne!
