Popped in at Cooee to have a chat and get a quote for my campervan. Very obliging and obviously promoting in-house brands. Went to another tire dealer under a different name in south Burnie. Unbeknown to me, it’s owned by this same company. Same quote $280 cheaper!Went back to Cooee to see if they can match as it is more convenient for me to get it done at Cooee.Short sharp answer was no and suggested I take it to the “other” tyre place!I went to Davenport and got Bob Jane to do the job at $410 cheaper than these two !Talk about paying a premium just to use Local!

$50 a tyre to take off rim and fit / balance.15 min job for $100Might be able to Robb others but not me. Pi$$ poor customer service.Somerset discount tyres done for half that price.

Back in January 2018 I took my car to downing McCarthy tyres to have the wheels rotated balanced and one wheel replaced the day before heading back to Western Australia I wasBack home in Tasmania visiting my grandmother before she passed away.While returning to Western Australia with my brother and two 10 year old nephews we decided to pull into Adelaide and fill up the jerry cans for the border cross it’s lucky we did as we slowed down to the 60kph for the Adelaide hills the left rear wheel fell off if it would have happened at the 110 we was doing minutes before we most likely would have lost our lives.Dowling McCarthy tyres helped get us back on the road through lube mobile so we could get home where I was asked to get quotes for the complete repairs to my vehicle they then put it to their insurance company QBE and that’s where the representative Aaron was not very helpful at all from January 2018 until June 2020 I have been in a hire car from right to drive fighting to have this resolved as fast as possible seeking help from dowling McCarthy tyres, ombudsman lawyers and finally politicians.There wasn’t a single week where I hadn’t tried to get it resolved my boss even reprimanded me for being on the phone while working talking to lawyers and news channels, ombudsman trying to just get my car fixed and returned to me.I thank dowling McCarthy tyres for their early assistance and for their service to our family for years but they dusted their hands of the matter and left their insurance company QBE drag it out for so long
