Fat Girl Thai Kitchen
One of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne, if not Australia.Great food, great restaurant, but even better owner and staff. Nei and A are really awesome human beings who has taken their Thai food from great (at Nepean Cuppa) to awesome.Let’s just say I’m just glad that I’m not in Melbourne anymore…otherwise there goes the diet! That being said, I miss you guys a lot!!!

Ordered from this place last nightFood looked delicious and nice.Found this wedge of lime with Pad Thai and it already used or squeezed by someone else. How could they put in customer fresh order like this ?

The place was very busy, with people eating in and getting takeaway. They were unfortunately short-staffed, so ordering and getting food to the table was slow. The place is cheerful and loud, and while it's no good for a romantic evening, it's a great spot for families.

First time trying Fat Girl Thai after hearing good things about it. I wasn't really as impressed as I hoped to be. The food, while good, was delivered at all kinds of timings and without rhyme or reason. They may as well have been bringing out the food alphabetically as far as I could tell. Tables who ordered after us got theirs first, and some tables - including ours - had almost finished a course before the last items came out. It's not good enough. The tables are small for four people and my chair was backed up against the corner of the fireplace, so I couldn't sit further back than needed to. It was loud (which isn't their fault), and service was slow, even during the quiet times.Based on the taste of food, I'd come back again. But they MUST improve their service (also hiring staff that understand the customers would be a big help) and speed and it would make for a much better experience. Pricing is reasonable and parking is good. I'd definitely try it again, but not for a long while ...

Been there multiple times and their pad thai have always been fantastic.Literally feels like you're in the streets of Bangkok. The best Thai food I have had so far Melbourne. Very spacious restaurant so was very easy to access. A great atmosphere for group gatherings and great value for money.

We *really* enjoyed the food, and it’s super well presented. The service was polite but the vibe needs work (maybe some music and check in with patrons for drink top ups etc.). We’ll be back for sure!

The food tasted delicious, authentic and remind me of how Thai food should taste like. We definitely will return.

Delicious! The four of us visited around 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. It wasn't too busy and we were quickly seated. We soon ordered and service was very quick and friendly. All of the food was delicious and some of the best Thai food I have ever had. There were a fair few items on the menu that I haven't heard of before which was also pretty cool and exciting. I highly recommend!

Recommended for fans of eating palm sugar with a spoon then chasing it with a shot of lime juice. That's not quite my thing, so this was a dining experience equal parts miserable, mystifying and memorable.Thai food should be a balance of zest, spice, sweet and sour. All dishes at Fat Girl were sweet, sweet, sweet and more sweet. The food is more expensive when you dine in (most dishes $2 more). I'm not entirely sure how they justify the additional cost, as the staff are more focused on socialising than taking orders or checking in with their customers. Not once were we asked how our meal was going and we spent an extra $10 across 5 dishes for the privilege of having to wave wait staff over at each juncture. We ordered Fish Cakes, Satay Skewers, Tom Yum (chicken) soup with coconut rice, and Kee Mao (beef) noodles. The chicken satay skewers were a curious dish. When I think of skewers, I imagine the skewer loaded with tender chunks of char-coaled or char-grilled chicken. Here was a unique spin on the dish - served a small pile of shallow pan-fried chicken strips resting upon a bed of supermarket bag lettuce drowned in a concoction of peanut butter and palm sugar. The dish invokes memories of experiments gone awry from pantry leftovers at 4 am on a Saturday morning.Next came the Tom Yum soup. The soup base was overpowered by lime juice and sugar. The same tough chicken breast strips used in the skewers" were dumped in the bowl. To understand the texture try to imagine a mixture of wet cardboard and gristle. The coconut rice belongs on the dessert menu. It was dripping (literally) in a syrup of sugar and coconut cream.Last came the Kee Mao noodles. Served with deep-fried basil leaves whose stems were hard and bitter
