Stotts Island Nature Reserve is an old car park and some benches next to a rainforest full of aggressive mosquitos. Stotts Island (as opposed to the reserve) doesn't seem to have any paths, and there's no bridge over the swamp to it. The nature reserve is too small to be called a walk.Old signs show that they're doing conservation work in the area. That might explain why the car park is regularly closed to the public. But it is not made clear to us. The reserve is next to a busy road and there aren't any amenities. You could stop by for a nice picnic as there are covered benches, and the grass is mown. But that's about it.

Another unkept place in the Tweed with plenty of potential. Ever since the highway upgrades this location has seen far fewer visitors. Lots of places to have a pincnic. Tables and bathrooms (cannot confirm if open). The biggest local tip i can give is to bring lots of insect repellent with you. The mosquitoes are in abundance and are hard to deter.

The reserve is actually an island not accessible to the public. It's a rare original remnant rainforest area, supporting a rich diversity of wild life and is best viewed from the water. I believe Tweed Eco Cruises (from Tweed Heads) take a route alongside with interesting commentary.

Car park is closed, presumably for restoration work (although this is not clear). There is a very small parking available outside the gate entrance, with a covered bench nearby, although not much to see at present.

I wonder if this Stotts Island is the floating Island. During the cruise on the Tweed River we stopped at a floating Island. I also enyoyed crossing the river by a ferry at Tumbulgum to drive on the other side of the river. During the crossing a couple of Swallows was flying along side the ferry. It was really wonderful. Then we went to see the Antartic Beech tree in Lamington Reserve.
