Great experience for young kids as the rooms open out onto the zoo and you can visit the animals any time which is pretty special when the kids first wake up. What let's it down is the very basic rooms and the external toilets. It wasn't clear on the website that the toilets were outside the rooms and shared which made it difficult for kids to go to the toilet during the night. The 50% off zoo entrance is also a bit of a joke as it is still over $60 for a family and the zoo is very basic. Would recommend if you want the experience of waking up with the animals but not if you want comfortable accommodation.

Buyer BEWARE.This property shouldn't be listed on booking.comAs soon as we drove into the car park and looking at the desolate, worn out and eerie condition of the property we were struck by a strong sense of foreboding. It looked straight out of a horror movie (think Wolf Creek). We couldn't help but wonder what might have happened to the people from the seemingly abandoned 3 vehicles in the car park. Paint all sun faded and peeling.A sign stated the property was closed. There was nobody in sight.(don't let the property photos fool you, except maybe for the room photos, all others probably reflect a long gone glorious era)Called the property and no one answered the phone (went to voice mail). As we concluded the accommodation was probably off the market (property not maintained, signs of disrepair everywhere) we were about to quit and leave when a lady came out and invited us in. Her appearance was in keeping with the place. She told us the zoo was closed but the accommodation was open.Inside, we could confirm the state of dreadful dilapidation of the property and told the lady that we were not willing to stay, as this was not what we expected. Dust everywhere, objects all around were covered to protect them from dust. A seemingly abandoned ladder had been left behind further reinforcing the despondent and decrepit atmosphere of the place. Intense alarm bells went off in our heads telling us to leave; we were definitely feeling unsafe and nobody except booking.com knew we were there. The lady insisted that we had a look at the room.We did inspect the room and it looked good, except for a slight smell, that was a little off (mouldy). We immediately left the property as well as our hard earned 682 dollars behind, corresponding to the full amount of the booking for 4 days, that we lost.Stay there if you feel adventurous...

Great concept, enjoyed overnight stay, nice breakfast, facilities very nice, quiet stay as no else else there the night we stayed. Unfortunately room was quite dusty....we all had blocked noses in the morning and were itchy overnight. The flamingo bird (Or whatever it was) standing in the tote bucket was very sad to see....poor chap needs a pond. But overall loved seeing the animals and the friendly wallabies up close really were the highlight. With a little bit more effort this would be a fantastic place to stay

We stayed at the Daintree Wild for 3 nights. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the breakfast is good. The owners are very friendly and they love their animals. We drove to the wrong adress at first because it shows another one close the Cairns but the owners were really helpful so we made our way. It‘s different then your normal hotel because you are much closer to the nature but that‘s why it‘s called Daintree wild. Would definitely recommend and come again.

The zoo is unfortunately now closed but that doesn't detract at all from what is an excellent B&B with well maintained spacious rooms and friendly helpful hosts. They were also happy for us to look at the few remaining animals in their zoo.
