Tamborine Village Pharmacy
Always an absolutely wonderful experience at the Tamborine Village Pharmacy. For such a small location they have everything we need and are always willing to order in any specialty medication. The pharmacist there is lovely and offers great advice whenever we need it. Very lucky to have such a good pharmacy on the mountain. Highly recommended!

The pharmacist and staff of the Tamborine Village Pharmacy are always pleasant and helpful. They would go the extra mile to help me order the medication that I needed.I also liked the new variety of essentials and gift items introduced by the pharmacy, which are our local produce. Glad to know I am supporting the local community and this caring pharmacy.

They recommended unsuitably large bandaids for a leech bite between toes, and we realised as soon as we got to the roundabout less than 100m away. They refused to let us back in to swap it because they had started closing up, even though they knew we were just there, knew it was their mistake, and knew I had a wound that wouldn’t stop bleeding. Zero accountability or care.

To cut to the chase, my review was based on my most recent visit from just a few days ago. I needed a change in medication because my previous medication just wasn’t working out for me. After the wait, we were called back to the front desk and was met by a middle-aged, bald pharmacist. For some extra context, the medication was not for physical issues, but more so mental. To my surprise, I was questioned “is this for a depression thing?” In a mocking and belittling tone. Not willing to get into specifics, even though it wasn’t fully the case, I just replied with ”I guess so”. Simply trying to brush it off because a few minutes prior I had a consultation with an actual doctor who prescribed me this medication for a reason so I viewed it as unnecessary and not worth my time. Then I was met with unsolicited advice which was insanely stereotyped and borderline unprofessional. He repeated how I just needed to go outside, get some vitamin D, so on and so forth. After ignoring him and crossing my arms in a rush he finally finished off with “well you clearly don’t want to hear about this so I’ll stop” in a snarky tone. I grabbed my medication and left in full blown agitation. Not only did he over step his boundaries as a pharmacist, but I go on runs and walks everyday out in the sun, drink tea, eat healthy, overall do everything he advised in the first place. This medication wasn’t for depression, but even if it was, suggesting everything he suggested is basically ticking the criteria on exactly what is hard to do when you suffer from depression. To my understanding, depression stops you from doing practical, healthy and “normal” activities. This just shows how little people in the medical field are informed about mental illnesses, and also shows why he’s a pharmacist and not a doctor. I know that google article about how teens over exaggerate issues was intriguing but next time just keep it to yourself. You do your job and I’ll do mine.
