We spent a heavenly week staying at Dungannon and could have easily stayed for longer. Melissa and Tyrone have obviously put a lot of thought into building their wonderful house on the side of the mountain which is simple in style but has everything you could possibly want for a relaxing and tranquil getaway. Watching the sun come up over the valley in the morning with a great cup of coffee, then going for one of the bush walks on the property before diving into the pool on our return was a wonderful start to the day. We had had every intention of visiting one of the beaches about 35mins drive away but in the end couldn’t bring ourselves to leave and spent the days reading, playing board games and enjoying the beautiful surrounds. There is a great spot for a camp fire on the property which we chatted around on a couple of evenings. We saw wedge tailed eagles which hunted up and down the valley every afternoon as well as other bird life, and the night sky was magnificent – the milky way a sight to behold. Photographers bring your equipment!Between the main house and the fully outfitted and equipped ‘shed’ a minute’s walk up the hill there was enough comfortable space for our large family group to both gather together and spend time doing our own thing. The kitchen is fully equipped which made catering a breeze (including a great coffee machine and dishwasher) and the beds are very comfortable, with beautiful sheets (a personal favourite) provided which made waking up to the amazing view across the valley even more of a treat. The main bathroom has a decadent bath big enough for two and there is a fully equipped laundry with fluffy towels for the bathroom and pool. Melissa and Tyrone have provided a very comprehensive guest book of information and other personal touches which make Dungannon a real treat and well worth a return visit.

So glad we could spend some time at Dungannon Eco Retreat. From start to finish everything was perfect. The facilities are super clean with everything you can think of to make for a relaxing, rejuvenating stay. There are beautiful products in the bathrooms and a generously stocked kitchen makes the day to day extraordinary. The cocoon sunbed on the deck is the perfect place to gaze out at the view, book forgotten. The beds are amazing. The salt water pool overlooks the valley and we enjoyed watching an eagle drift down towards the river while lazing in the water. With outstanding views from every bedroom, watching the sunrise from bed is an absolute treat. We even did yoga on the deck one morning as the valley flooded with the sun’s rays. Sublime! The mountain walk was an early morning test for the quads - easier the second time - but the view down to the coast from the top was worth it.It is clear the hosts care deeply about this property and are building something unique here. An amazing place to visit. We will be back!

This place is magic. The house is beautifully designed and comfortably appointed. The hosts have thought of everything, from the generous supplies of coffee and kitchen basics, to the beautiful palette of the crockery and sheets. The location of the house being near the top of the mountain means that the views are breathtaking, ever-changing and relaxing too. Whilst the driveway and surrounding land are steep, one easily recovers from any walk by taking a dip in the pool or by relaxing on the comfortable outdoor lounge. With the cows below, and the rainforest above, this retreat has the best of both worlds. It's a beautiful mix of farmhouse and eco luxury.

Absolutely amazing views and great people to work with. Could not recommend the house more! Rooms were excellantly cleaned and we were amazed with the pool and views. Thanks so much! We were shocked to find that the house is completely off grid so the environmentally conscious can rest easy.

Dungannon Eco Retreat - This peaceful oasis, situated an easy two hour drive from Sydney, is ideal for a short or long term break. The panoramic view of the countryside gives one a feeling of quiet and safety. Watching the sunrise at 6 in the morning is unique and well worth getting up for, and an early morning swim in the salt water pool overlooking the horizon starts the day on the right note. Relaxing on the front deck with a glass of wine while the steak and sausages sizzle away on the barbecue is the time for sinking into relaxed mode while enjoying a chat or silent contemplation. The sleeping arrangements accommodate a large or small party/family easily with no feeling of overcrowding. If you are someone who likes to luxuriate in the bath, this is the place for you, or otherwise the modern large shower is likewise relaxing. The kitchen has everything needed to be able to produce any type of meal with ease and eaten either inside at the big dining room table or gazing out into the tranquil scene of trees and mountains. A visit to Wingham (30 kms away) added to the variety, including walking along the boardwalk in the rain forest. Should anyone wish to attend church there is an Anglican Church and Mass is held on a Saturday evening at the Catholic Church. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay accommodating a variety of ages and would recommend it to anyone, with the caution that for toddlers it might be best to wait till they are a little older! However our young people and our elderly couple fitted in perfectly. What a happy place! No stress, easy access even with the steep hill climb to get to the house which is well elevated allowing the wide panoramic view. Shops, which are well stocked, are nearby and the usual everyday supplies are easily bought.A really joyful experience. Thank you for providing such a beautiful home in a gorgeous location!
