I started training at IGK Hawthorn late 2021. It’s honestly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.I was a bit nervous about initially contacting the dojo. I wasn’t too sure what to expect and I was also a bit concerned about my own fitness level. However I was able to try it out and see if it was right for me, and I found the whole process to be so easy and pressure free. I’ve found it to be an incredibly inclusive and welcoming place for people of all levels of fitness and abilities.The classes are run by Jim Senpai. A very patient and dedicated instructor. This is a man who loves what he’s doing. With each and every class you can see how passionate he is about both teaching and Karate. You can tell that he genuinely wants to bring the best out of his students.Karate has given me focus, discipline, and has improved my overall fitness and mental well-being.If you’ve ever thought about trying out Karate, I wholeheartedly recommend IGK Hawthorn.

This is my young son's 2nd year learning martial arts at IGK Hawthorn. Jim is a very patient teacher with so many young students from Prep grade and older. Jim's teaching has helped my son to learn to listen and concentrate and further develop his memory. Plenty of parking space available. Highly recommended.

We enrolled our daughter Elodie at IGK Hawthorn to study Karate under Senpai Jim in the latter half of last year.Since then we have seen her self-confidence grow.Elodie's sense of focus and concentration in her everyday life has also improved. Every week, Elodie looks forward to her classes, and she takes great care in wearing her uniform and belt correctly. Since starting at IGK Hawthorn, Elodie has developed a keener sense of discipline and self-confidence that has carried over into her day to day life. We highly recommend Senpai Jim and IGK Hawthorn!

We have been to several different martial arts schools before settling on IGK Hawthorn because it is such an awesome DOJO.Jim is a sensational teacher and the teaching methods are relative and practical.I am very impressed with IGK and would highly recommend this school to anyone considering joining a karate school.

A very well run school, led by an inspiring and patient teacher. Jim is great.The facilities are comfortable and the location is convenient (with lots of off-street parking).Most importantly their focus is on respect. So students are not just learning the drills and technical aspects of karate.
