Moon River Motor Inn
Stayed here o’night, our room backed onto the river, beautiful view. Room was clear and tidy, no smell. Had a delicious meal at the restaurant here, and has a massive breakfast delivered to our door this morning. Will be coming back here again.

The rooms are absolutely filthy & the staff are completely rude , mould covering the whole roof I’m on 3 Asthma puffers for my lungs & I paid $750 for this the bathroom light is switching on & off like I’m in a night club $750 & they complained about asking for a towel no toilet paper no power points no wifi & according to the motor inn $750 was a discount if I could I wouldn’t even give 1 star

Bed terrible. No service from staff. We never even saw the manager who took our call. He took our credit card over the phone and we left the key in the drop box on leaving. Dated decor. The shower was ok. So, I think a big revamp needed. It's one of the first motels as you enter Kempsey, so a great opportunity is there. Now Kempsey actually has many motels, so make it stand out, do it up, get breakfast going, paint, new carpet, better beds and be the real gem in the litter for people to select. So, my opinion, keep driving and go over the bridge to East Kempsey and there are better motels there. Of course, this could change if some love and care could be given to the place and with an injection of money, the 5 stars could be on the way.

I would like to start firstly with our room, we booked the family suite , given the fact we had only booked this for 3 adults ,I would never let my kids stay in this room if I had kids with me , there was ants coming in through the front window, in the first bathroom also in the cupboard which was filled with crumbs, we went to reception and all he did was come and spray them and wipe them away(maybe do a 6monthly bug spray around the grounds) we also had one chair break after slightly sitting on it , told receptionist again they took it away, we told him we weren’t impressed, they said oh well nor am I was supposed to bring another back never did , (realistically would you not check over rooms before a guest was to stay here) all window sashes were filthy could use a deep clean, the room smelled like a wet dog , used our own glen20 to help get rid of the smell, blinds have holes, cob webs on all windows also have a wasps nest in our top window inside , we previously stayed here about 4 years ago and it was great , either they have changed owners or they just don’t simply care about there customers well being…. All and all bad service , dirty and unclean highly disappointed…..WE WILL NOT BE STAYING AT THIS MOTEL IN THE NEAR FUTURE!!!!!!!!

This motel exceeded my expectations for a budget stop over. It was clean, fresh, nicely laid out and had a sliding glass door out back to the river. I ordered a meal in and was nicely surprised at how good it was.It's located far back from the road making it quiet, peaceful and dark. It made for a great night in.

Location is awesome and the motel is very clean and convenient. May not have the best services however it makes it up in simplicity and accessibility (very close to the town centre for any needs). Great value for money for a quick stopover to and from Gold Coast.

A lovely motel, with a relaxing feel as soon as you drive into it. Our room was very comfortable, refurbished well and very clean. The bonus was that the room opened onto the Macleay River. The pool looked very inviting.Certainly value for money. Just a pity that the restaurant wasn’t open.I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Do yourself a favour and read the reviews. Room smelt bad like wet dog. Asked reception for air freshener, they gave us glen 20 to spray it ourselves. Two bathrooms in the two bedroom family suite was a nice surprise- until we realised the first one smelt badly of a septic issue (that remained closed), then the toilet in the second one leaked all the way to the vanity…forcing us to use the septic toilet. Just gross!! Worst part is…I am only reading the reviews now, after this experience…to see others have said the same before us. They don’t fix the issues here…stay at your own risk.
