Australian Railway Monument and Rail Journeys Museum
A wonderful museum dedicated to the Werris Creek Railway and the people that were involved throughout its history. A fantastic display of history, artefacts and memorabilia including a outstanding model train set upstairs. Run by amazing volunteers that are more than happy to help. Highly recommend visiting this museum. Includes a display upstairs of how Werris Creek was transformed into Torrance" for an Angelina Jolie movie."

I missed seeing the museum as I was there on a day it was closed, but the Rail Monument and station are worth seeing in themselves. The sculptures and their stories are really interesting.

Was closed when we went so can't really comment too much. But outside was beautiful.

We happened upon the museum accidenatally whilst passing though Werris Creek. We spent 2 hours thoroughly engrossed in the large array of railway memorabilia housed here. There is absolutely too much to take in during a single visit. This place is a credit to the community at Werris Creek in celebration of their rich railway heritage.

Even if you’re not into railway history, this museum gives you an idea of the growth of Werris Creek as a railway town which is part of the cultural history of the area. Given a guided tour by one of the staff there really opens up your appreciation of the exhibits, and for anyone interested in the operation of railways generally, will not go away disappointed after your hands on viewing of train timetable graphs, safe working equipment etc.Excellent and friendly staff are eager to show you around and this place is a must to view.Give yourself a good hour plus to fully appreciate the museum. And don’t forget to see the brilliant model railway depicting Werris Creek!

Werris Creek Railway Station is very old and steeped in rich history. If you have a history buff or steam train enthusiast in your family, it's well worth the visit.Only $5 entry for adults, and children are FREE. The railway museum was an interesting exhibit, with very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable volunteers who share their genuine passion for the area with you as they show you around the museum.See how the station operated from the early 20th Century, from the staff and track workers, to the station masters and cooks providing refreshment to weary travellers. Lots of artifacts on display from communication equipment, old seats, uniforms, lots of photos and plenty of stories from those who worked in the rail industry throughout the stations history.Werris Creek is a beautiful, quiet village with stunning country scenery. It's not hard to find a good quality bite to eat, and there's a great children's playground built by the local Lion's Club.If you fancy an adventurous way to get there, take the modern day XPT going through to Sydney that leaves at 10:27am from Tamworth train station and take the 40 minute train ride to Werris Creek (just make sure someone picks you up or you make plans to stay the day in this beautiful village otherwise the next train doesn't come back through from Sydney until 3pmish).
