Glen Davis Camping Area

Very tranquil place... and yes... there are hot showers there.... facilty is managed by Lithgow council!

Reasonably well maintained. Interesting that this area was moderately busy on New Year 2022, while the town campground was empty. Capertee Valley looking lush

I was very disappointed. I wanted to look through the ruins however only found on arrival this can only be done on Saturdays at 2 pm though a $15 pp guided tour. I had not seen this in any other information on the area. Otherwise you can not get anywhere near the ruins on any other day. The town" itself seems to be full of otherwise unused weekenders and shanties. The old pharmacy appears interesting but there is no access. You cannot get near or view the old hotel. The campground facilities are okay but not great for vans. There are more signs saying "don't camp here

Scenic views and clean amenities are pretty much all that this place has going for it.Could be good for a getaway for large group but not many level areas.

Glen Davis was a real surprise, it's a little out of the way and had the camp all to ourselves, the town is still inhabited by a few peaple who seem to have large dogs but that's nothing to do with the camp ground, walking tracks haven't been maintained since a fire years ago it seems so be careful not to get lost, heaps of kangaroos, showers are a little dumpy but free and hot! Interesting history and beautiful mountains.

Great camping spot, stunning scenery and close to hiking trails and a river. Lots of native wildlife around the campground, which has some basic camping toilets and fire pits. Normally it’s relatively busy and a popular spot for families.

My wife and I had booked the tour of the Oil Shale facility and as we arrived early we had a look around the streets of Glen Davis. The road in to Glen Davis is sealed right to the bridge before the village so the only dirt roads is in Glen Davis itself.There were a half dozens campers scattered in different areas of the grounds. Some with caravans, a few tents and others in mini vans. There were small BBQ's at some camp sites with one large BBQ facility in the centre of the grounds. Covered tables and seating on cement slabs as well. Plenty of rubbish bins.The camping grounds are on a slight slope with the amenities building at the highest point. We used the toilets while we were there and read the information boards giving some history of the town and its refinery before heading off for the tour.

Stayed here a few weeks ago. Such a beautiful spot with hot showers too. Donation box at the 'office'.

Eventhough it was a bit hot, we enjoyed our half a day bbq. Had 2 goannas guests when our meal was ready (dont leave your food unsupervised)!Access road passes a shallow river (passed by a normal sedan car), but in wet seasons it may not be possible to pass this section (at the time, it was 250mm deep)Google directs you through deadend road! So look for the trail on your left-hand side about 2-3km before reaching Glen Davis. (If you pass the bridge, it means you have missed the trail! Make a u-turn)

Stunning scenery that surrounds and encompasses you, and located not to far out of Sydney. The area has close swimming, big open fields and lovely fauna that sometimes pay visits to guests. I highly recommend a visit/stay.
