Toorbul Shorebird Sanctuary

Nice place to kick back and enjoy with friends and family, enjoying the local scenery, lovely views, and a smile on people who live there. It's definitely a great place for that bbq with the family and friends!!!

Great spot for viewing migratory shorebirds. If you see people entering the restricted area, call them out. Its important for the birds to rest here

No access to the roost site. Birds are seen very far during low tides. Very nice esplanade. Nice town.

One of the best places close to Brisbane to check out the migratory waders resting up or feeding up on the 6 month sojourn in Australia. Best time to visit Late September to March, 2 hours either side of high tide when the birds are pushed into the roost by the incoming tide.Species to see Far Eastern Curlew (an endangered species); Black-failed &/or Bar-tailed Godwits; Whimbrels; Grey-tailed Tattlers, Red-necked Stints; Great &/or Red Knots; Pied Oystercatcher; Australian Pelicans; Black Swans and Grey Kangaroos.This roost is a protected area and no entry into the bird roost is permitted at any time (it is used year round by non-migratory species).No off leash dogs permitted what-so-ever.

My husband is an avid bird photographer so we come here and check on migratory birds. It's worth it.
