The vet was scared of our puppy, there is a first for everything i guess.. Then he said his conjunctivitis was fine and no treatment required. The conjunctivitis got worse, took him to our normal vet (hamilton) who were furious with the advice received from wallsend vet and gave pup antibiotics straight away.

We’ve been taking my dogs to Wallsend Vet for over 16 years. They’ve always been so beautiful, caring and kind with all animals. Even my difficult pug! They always have the best interest of the animal at heart and are swift to get you in for an appointment. From grooms, nail cutting, emergencies and sick dogs they cover it all. Beautiful people who do beautiful work.

I would NOT recommend this vet to anyone .Especially if you have a senior dog !I have been going to this vet for several years as they were local and didn’t want to travel too far having a senior dog in case of an emergency , and depending which vet I saw as they seem to have different vets coming and going all that time , I didn’t have many major issues with them .Until recently , I took my unwell 15 yr old baby to them who had been vomiting and not eating ( she had a history of pancreatitis ). At the first appointment , blood tests were done and they determined it was her pancreatitis , we agreed on a treatment plan and that all seemed fine .Over the next few days there was not a lot of improvement in her condition and she was still refusing to eat so I returned to the vet for a check up , the vet performed the bare minimum check up and was told she’s old and will it will take longer for her to recover then other dogs , the appointment would have been less then 5 minutes and we felt rushed out .After another few days I returned once again as she was STILL not improving or eating , I had even presented video footage to the vet of my dog to show him the things she was doing that was strange and out of character .He hardly looked at them and instantly diagnosed her with reflux , which she had NEVER had in the past and then in his words said “well she is an old girl” and after another bare minimum check up was given some meds and rushed out again , I did also express my concern about her kidneys which showed some abnormalities in the blood tests she had at the first appointment , but that was brushed off and dismissed as her being dehydrated .Another couple of days past and she was rapidly declining so I decided to take her somewhere else for a second opinion , this new vet I went too instantly performed X-rays and an ultrasound and it was found that she had a blockage somewhere and fluid leaking into her abdomen and could only be fixed with surgery , by this stage she was too weak and would not have made it through the surgery and was given a very low chance of recovering .I had to make the heartbreaking decision to have my baby put to sleep then and there .To say I’m heartbroken and distraught is an understatement !!!After a discussion with the new vet I went to he agreed , had further investigating and testing been done earlier , especially given her medical history and past conditions which you were well aware of as I had been going to you for quite some time , she could have been treated and made a recovery .After coming to your clinic 3 TIMES , you neglected and failed to and simply could not be bothered looking further into why she was so unwell , instead writing her of as an “old dog” and leaving her to suffer those last couple of weeks of her life !Even after privately emailing your clinic with these concerns , you didn’t have decency or compassion to even respond or reply back .The lack of action and care we were given and then ultimately leading to losing my soul dog , is unforgivable !!!!

Unbelievably genuine people! Geoff and Judy are amazing, so caring and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them, even when I was so stressed and and emotional, not making much sense they were so helpful.

Wallsend Vet is the best vet I have ever taken my cat to. The vet and vet nurses are extremely knowledgeable, kind, caring and compassionate. The vet was extremely thorough with my cat's consultation and we had a diagnosis and treatment straight away with a clear followup plan. I felt extremely welcome and all the staff were more than happy to answer my questions and provide suggestions and recommendations. They are now my vet of choice in this region and I will be back for routine checkups (hopefully under better circumstances than my last visit). Thankyou again Wallsend Vet, you guys are incredible.

Excellent. Had an emergency as a new patient and they fit me in immediately. very caring and loving as well as knowledgeable. Really respect the lady vet who served me, she was right on the issue and knew exactly what was happening, she gave great advice and was very kind. She also wasn't afraid to tell me off for having a bit too chunky cat, but in a non condescending way and gave amazing advice on exactly what to do. Definitely left with all the info I needed and a potentially serious problem solved

If I could have given less than 1 star I would have. Beyond disappointed at how my partner was treated and the 'professional advice' given after taking our Dog in for a check up here for the first time. This vet does not know the history of our dog - the recommendations provided were cause for concern alone when she mentioned taking him to a dog park to socialise with other dogs (after advising her he hasn't had a good history with other dogs), feeding him foods we know will cause him stomach issues because he's 'a carnivore'. Last I checked dogs were omnivores. She very much was 'old school' vet and really needs some refresher training or something. It's situations like that, that turn people away from getting their animals regularly checked over by a vet. Such a shame this is our local vet.
