A group booking for dinner in the restaurant resulted in a bunch of happy customers. For myself I ordered the beef schnitzel and was pleased to receive real meat, not the processed patties that are being passed off in some places. The vegetables and mushroom gravy were quite acceptable and service time was excellent.

This is a wonderfully quaint hotel with a number of motel rooms available across a vast carpark. It has a gaming room, bistro, sports bar & drive in bottle shop. The meals are of great quality & the portions are huge. Every staff member I have encountered has been friendly & courteous. The motel rooms are clean, have security screen doors & shutters on the windows. The rooms have a kettle, toaster, fridge & microwave & the 2 rooms I have stayed in have a double & single bed. There is a space for hanging clothes as well as an ironing table. One room I stayed in has a bath / shower combination. The hotel is 750 metres from a Coles supermarket & the main shopping area of town whilst other fast food outlets are perhaps slightly closer in the opposite direction. I was unfortunate to have developed car trouble which has resulted in my staying longer than I would have but every cloud has a silver lining & the Pastoral Hotel has been mine. I could not have found a more convenient place to be temporarily stranded in.

I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting family over a long weekend. The service was great! The lady checking us in was very friendly. We were lucky to get a room over the long weekend as it was a last-minute venture for us.The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was sub-par, but it got the job done. I enjoyed the room for what it was, but it could use a little bit of a bathroom refresh, some of the furniture/tabletops were sticky, and my least favourite, was the 'do not disturb' sign for the door was ripped & taped back together with a bandaid. It's funny in retrospect but at the time I was a little grossed out.I'm choosing to stay here as a preference every time I come up to Pt Augusta in the future but I can recognise some things that need a bit of a spruce up - despite those few things, it's a convenient and comfortable place to stay. Recommended.

After going to this venue for as long as I can remember and the whole family enjoying their food, we decided to go there to see what the new menu was like after new owners. While the menu is good the cheap lunch menu is now gone. It’s full price and full meals all day everyday. Will need to find a new place for lunches when we go out on the odd occasion as this was once our go too. My husband ordered a schnitzel……it’s a processed schnitzel in the shape of a love heart. As soon as we saw this we knew it was not the usual awesome pastoral schnitzel. Wasn’t nice. Was not what we expected. My meal was awesome. But the schnitzels…..what happened to the home made REAL CHICKEN schnitzels?? Pastoral was known for its chicken schnitzels now all you get is a giant processed chicken nugget. Bring back the real meat!! Also the salad, feta cheese and olives…..potato salad, cheese and carrots and pasta salads went down a treat there now that’s also gone. If the new owners don’t bring back cheap lunches with smaller serves or keep up the high food quality that was once there I feel this place will have to close its doors.

Poor all round! Let's start with the wine. When paying restaurant price for a whole bottle of wine I don't expect to have to ask for a wine bucket. We waited a long time for our meals to arrive and when we noticed people around us, who had arrived and ordered after us, I queried a staff member. She said she would check but did not get back to us. Eventually the meals came, delivered by the new boy on his first day working there. I guess the other staff members were too embarrassed to make an appearance. My wife's cheeseburger was cold, full of gristle and the chips were stale and cold. We could have got better at the Golden Arches. The crackle on my pork belly was rock hard. I had to chip away at it with the pointy end of a steak knife to break it.We won't be back.

Pastoral Hotel was a great place to stay, had comfortable beds and freshly painted and well cleaned room's.All the staff and patrons were friendly and helpful. The meals were great as well. The only issue was that there was a terrible smell in the games room where the pokies are and I thought I was back in Bali! However! If it keeps you away from the pokies then I guess it's not too bad.
